Bugs on my milkweed

I am trying to raise a garden for the Monarch. I have several Milkweeds in my backyard and I bought a Butterfly Bush this year. My problem is bugs on my Milkweed. The Monarch doesn't have a chance to lay eggs. I have seen two this year. Can I spray bug spray on the ground below the Milkweed. I have a red-like beetle and ants all over the Milkweed. HELP!

Are the insects you see eating the monarch's eggs? If not, you might not need to worry. How are things going now? Any eggs yet? I would not treat anything, for like you think, you'll kill beneficials, too.
