Found a pic of flowers I like...don't know what they are.

Champaign, IL(Zone 5b)

Could someone look at the flowers in this picture and tell me what they are? They look like a bush or something, and they're really pretty....didn't know what they are. I know its hosta in front, that's what I was looking up. Thanks for any help!

I'm almost certain that plant is a type of hosta. I'm not sure exactly which variety it is, but if you shop around you should be able to find ones that look like it. They grow and propagate easily in most climates and are among the most trouble free plants in my garden. Lots of people around here use them for big borders and to cover hillsides or other areas that are difficult to mow.

Bobby, the ID is needed for the flowers behind the hosta (see kls first post). But yes you are right it is definetly a hosta.

Pink, red and white all resemble azalea to me also, very pretty setting.

Hi, it could be an azalea, or perhaps a weigela? It's difficult to tell. Where did the photo come from?

Garner, NC(Zone 7b)

I thought the same about the possibility of weigela. But when I looked them up in plantfiles, the leaves didn't look quite right to me. Still not sure. Can this get posted in plant id or trees and shrubs forum(s)?

Sure looks like azalea to me too but hard to say which type (there are so many). I agree with lcf, the white and red also look like azalea. I would suggest you find a site on azaleas and look at all the pictures to see if you can find one that looks like what you have here. It is a beautiful shrub.

The pic came from a website that I believe was selling hostas. I have a whirlwind hosta, and was looking at pics of it and info because I want to try to grow more from seed....I saw those flowers and want to know what they are so I can copy them. Looking at them closer, the leaves do look like azaleas kind of. It looks like the pink and red ones are more the same and the white one is maybe a little different? Don't know...Thanks for all the help and threegardeners for posting that pic for me!

Dang, you're right. That was first thing in the morning and I was a little groggy. Yeah, they look like azalea leaves.

Pink, red, and white -- they all look like azaleas to me, too.

It looks like an azalea, but it wouldn't be blooming this time of year. There may be a new "forever" variety that would bloom longer, but they naturally are an early spring blooming shrub. Azaleas like acid soil and shade. There are some native varieties that are yellow and orange.

I think the picture was from somewhere like a nursery's website, so it isn't necessarily a recently taken one.
