Apple Trees?

Does anyone know anything about apple trees. We have 7 trees on our property that we purchased this last spring. They are grouped in 2 -2 -3, the trees are different varieties, the apples are different colors and sizes. They are all in bad need of pruning. I have no idea where to begin to tell what kind of apples they are. Does anyone have any advice on where I begin to figure this out?
