Faraway Flowers Lilies (how are you liking yours so far?)

Lisbon, IA(Zone 5a)

Wow Maxine, those are stunning! :) Keep the pictures coming!

Willamette Valley, OR(Zone 8a)

Oh! Oh! I have 97-39-03 too! It should open up in just a few days. I like it! Thanks for the preview, Maxine.

Western, WI(Zone 4a)

Mags, you yellow is Altaville!

Southern, WI(Zone 5a)

Maxine, aren't they gorgeous? They have been really unique in my garden and I've enjoyed them a lot. And I am now enjoying yours too.
I have another 'Madame Butterfly' in another section of the garden, perhaps there is a soil difference, and also, mine is in part sun.
The numbered hybrid is another Japanese Hybrid. Don't they smell wonderful too?
Pard, you just wait until yours open. Ohhh-la la...

Saint Bonifacius, MN(Zone 4a)

How many different Madam Butterfly's are there?

Southern, WI(Zone 5a)

Apparently, there are at least two.

Southern, WI(Zone 5a)

'Love Story' must have the largest flowers I have seen on an oriental. I mean WOW huge. How do they hybridize into such things?

Oh gorgeous!! something to look forward too. Mine are still in the bud stage, Love Story.
Was weeding where they were this morning, so finally found all of them.
I noticed that Mango has large buds also. These lilies are so tall and well formed plus the coloration is superb.

*sniff* *sniff* I broke off my Mango last night when I was out dinking around in the garden bed. *sniff* *sniff* I could just cry...

Chicago, IL(Zone 5b)

Diann, I thought at first you said "drinking" around. Never a good idea to drink and dink, I think.

These lilies are SO beautiful.

Lisbon, IA(Zone 5a)

Ha! At least I would have an excuse for being clumsy. Nope, no drinking, just dinking.. :) LOL

TIcker, Mambo or Mango?

Lisbon, IA(Zone 5a)

Mambo. It was Mambo... *sniff* *sniff* I knew it was there and I just turned and *snap* it was history. This is the first one that I've done that to this entire year. Which for me, is pretty good. Usually I take a few out weeding...

Southern, WI(Zone 5a)

I was thinking, after soooo many visits to that site, that I had missed one. Whew!
My 'Mambo' is coming close.
Ticker, I hate it when I lop off a lily stalk, or should I say, DH and the weedwacker. Not a good combo when it comes to lily survival.

Lisbon, IA(Zone 5a)

Yeah, I can't even blame the DH for this one. I did it all on my own.. *sigh* I will just have to wait till next year to see it... hopefully...

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

I've had a terrible time with my Faraway Flowers.... rotten rabbits ate Mambo and Exotic Butterfly, several others aborted buds when it was sooo hot and we hadn't had rain for 6 weeks. Even though I watered, they know the difference.

But I did have Madame Butterfly ~ and oh, the perfume!

Cecil looks great

Cecil is a cute one too. It looks quite short, Moby. Is it?
Those wascally wabbits! Plantskydd and all? Yikes, those must have been some hungry fellars.
Madame Butterfly looks great at your house too. It's got such pretty shading.

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

Yep, I have some shorties ~ got them in late.

The bunnies were bad enough until my psycopath neighbor cut down 6 trees and cleared out all the brush. Now the squirrels are stealing tomatoes and the bunnies are horrid! Something has even taken a bite from the datura and castor bean leaves.

Can somebody explain how they got to the lily through this cage?? The chomp is well below the top.

Just noticed this on Cecil ~ no anthers

Gloria

http://farawayflowers.vstore.ca/

and a few other places. :)

Sanford, MI(Zone 5a)

Gloria

Lisbon, IA(Zone 5a)

Patience, Grasshopper. :) LOL They will be. I think they ship in the spring. I did my order last February, I think. (of course me telling you to have patience is like the pot calling the kettle black). LOL

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

Gloria, these lilies came from FF, as mentioned, but we order from lots of places. Good places are B&D, Lily Garden, Lily Nook, etc..

If you have none or very few, the easiest way to get started is to buy them locally and can frequently be found potted up and started for you.

Willamette Valley, OR(Zone 8a)

FF seedling 97-39-03 opened today. It is gorgeous!

This side view reveals the slight bowl shape of the flower....

The third post of mine on this thread is the same as pard's post. So perhaps soil acidity is making a color difference here. Yours is much darker, compared to my soft pink. Beautiful, pard! Are you spreading pollen??

Lisbon, IA(Zone 5a)

and don't forget BuggyCrazy! :) she send really nice stuff, too! ;) Huge bulbs.

Willamette Valley, OR(Zone 8a)

Magnolia, I haven't done much pollen daubing this summer. Maybe 5 or 6 planned ones. Is this one and Geisha Girl growing near each other? It will be interesting how they bloom for you next year.

Southern, WI(Zone 5a)

I have them all near each other. I knew I wanted them in place place that I walked by often so they are close to neighboring. It's close to the house too, in case there are any overwintering issues. These are just some really neat bulbs.

Southern, WI(Zone 5a)

This is 'Mambo'. Tough to capture the deep color, but it's neighboring Sumatra and 'Mambo' is darker

'Tiger Woods', larger than 'Dizzy' and more curly petals.

*sigh* My poor Mambo.... Thanks Mags, for posting yours. It's beautiful and now I know what I have to look forward to for next year... TW is kind of neat. :)

Poland, ME

TW is soooo dramatic! Gorgeous picture!
