I just installed about 750 sq yards of sod in my yard. It was 90 degrees all three days. The grass was really green when it came on the pallets. I installed them as fast as I can. Its 3 days now but only the first batch that got laid down is green. The remainder of the yard is some what green but mostly light brown.
Is my sod dying or needs more time to tell? I water 10 mins 4 times a day. Help is greatly appreciated.
thanks

new fescue sod installed in kansas
Your sod is prob suffering from drying out before it was layed, the delivery should have advised you to keep watering the rolls and shaded them from the sun, so just keep watering it, better to give it a good water once or twice a day than a little more time than that, if you are in a really hot area for long periods of time, then you need to water before the sun gets hot and again after the heat has gone so the roots get the water before it evaporates with the heat, it needs a lot more water than ten mins at a time as you need the water to penetrate down to the roots, in that short time, the water will just be tickling the surface, it is always best to have the sod soaked and it can dry out over a longer time than see the sod turning brown for lack or water. Dont try feeding it as that will cause even more stress to the grass right now, just water, more water and then more, you will know when it is soaked as you will feel the difference when you step onto the grass, the best time to lay sod is either end of summer when the wather is cooler or spring before the weather gets too hot. hope this helps you to get things sorted out. good luck.
