Plant Identification

Hi,

I have these plants and I dont know what they are,

I have 2 house rabbits and want to identify these plant so I know if they are toxic or not, they look a little like Philodendron to me.

Was wondering if anyone can help?

Yes Doug, they are both Philodendron's. I'm not sure which ones. The one on left may be a Split Leaf and the one on the right might be Xanadu ... you might like to check out these photo's in the Plant Files to see if you can find a match:

Thanks for your rapid reply , I think I am going to move them from rabbit access.

Yes .... I think you should keep them out of the reach of rabbits or critters that would like to eat them! I keep mine on my deck but I know they can be grown outside in the ground in some parts of Florida! It gets too cold in the winter time here for them to survive. We ocassionally have a hard freeze here in East Central Florida.

I have one of these on the side of my house. I saved it from Home Depot a couple of years ago. Have you ever tried to root a cutting? I guess the cold weather doesn't bother mine too much since it's on the side of the house. My mom has a HUGE one in her backyard. It's over the top of the porch roof and now moving around one side of the porch.

Yes, that first photo looks like the ones down here in Florida that get Huge! These are the Split Leaf Philo's growing in my side yard:
