I have an inground pool in my back yard. At this point I have zero Landscaping. I would love ANY suggestions. I have purchased one Pigmy Date Palm and have plans to purchase a Queen Palm. Can anyone suggest what other plants to help make them tie in together. The Pigmy Date is about 4 ft tall, but the Queen Palm will most likely be about 10 - 15ft tall when I plant initially. I plan to put rocks as my landscaping mulch, and am torn between white and mix gravel color.
Any suggestions out there????

I would go for the gravel mix--but that's just personal taste, I'm not a fan of those white rocks. Personal taste aside though there may be other advantages to a more neutral colored rock. If the area's sunny and you're going to have people out there a lot, the white rocks can create a lot of glare as the sunlight reflects off them, so grayish colored rocks may be better. Also if you live in a hot climate, the white rocks reflect the sun back up onto the plants that are planted there, and that could fry some plants unless they really love the heat. If you're in a cooler climate that's probably not as big of a deal.
Thank you so much for replying to my plea for help!! I really appreciate the sugggestion, or personal opinion on the gravel. You gave me a lot to think about. We live in South Louisiana and it is hot, so I think the neutral colored gravel will be better. I have no fence, just opened back yard. I am only interested in landscaping directly around my pool for now.
