I was wondering if anyone had experience in this. I bought one at the store last October, and in the past few weeks it has begun to explode! Growing like a weed and I love it, but the pot I bought it in has far too many stems in it -- there about 8-10 of these all growing out of either the same plant or its many plants.
Either way, I was wondering if I chopped out a couple of them, how difficult is it to propagate them?
I was thinking of cutting out a couple stems and placing them in a vase of water, and setting them in the back porch (east sun). Or would it be better to pot it in soil right from the start? Opinions welcomed!
Propagating a Emerald Tree / China Doll Plant.. tips?
Sorry no one has answered.........I love china doll plants......am sure they are as easy to propagate as anything else........I like to keep all small cuttings in one 4" pot (about 5 or 6) under a dome.........using a soilless mix with 1/2 perlite and 1/2 soil-less mix........you can buy the soilless mix at any garden center........i personally think something like Miracle grow even mixed with perlite is still to o heavy.........
good luck
I'm not an expert on propagating! However, I have a china doll plant that I have been trying to root out for quite some time and they are VERY difficult to root out. I tried placing the trimmings in water and in planting soil with and without fertilizer/feed. The only thing that finally worked was a rooting compound and water. I actually dipped it for the third time in about 3 months in the compound and it actually looks like it is rooting out. Good luck!
