Anyone know what plant this is?

Syracuse, NY(Zone 5a)

I got this plant at the local farmer's market weeks ago. I know I was told what is was but of course I can't recall that now. It was originally planted in an area that only gets the early morning sun, however that proved too much for the poor thing and it would droop. I moved it to a sheltered area and it is doing very well although it does not like even the bit of sun that still falls on it. Anyone know what this is?

Thanks,
Lydia

It looks to be Ligularia http://davesgarden.com/pf/adv_search.php?searcher%5Bcommon%5D=&searcher%5Bfamily%5D=&searcher%5Bgenus%5D=ligularia&searcher%5Bspecies%5D=&searcher%5Bcultivar%5D=&searcher%5Bhybridizer%5D=&search_prefs%5Bsort_by%5D=rating&images_prefs=both&Search=Search
you can view the plant files to determine which one you have. Mine wilts like that too, I have to give it extra water as it gets a bit too much sun

Hi Lydia. your plant is indeed a Ligulaia, they are perennials and need a lot of manure/compost added to the soil when you plant and then mulched with the same, they prefer a dampish soil, which the copost/manure will help to maintain, so if you can give the manure compost and lots of water throughout the summer, it will be rewarding you next year with even more flower spikes, when you plant them you should spread the roots out with a little mound of soil in the hole so the roots sit on the mound, rather than dig them deep and all crouded into the hole. hope this helps good luck. I have that plant, mine never wilts, but it is in half shade.
