So here is the new thread with a Sazanami light color to begin. I bought these off ebay from some seed left over from a packet from Japan. It is looking pretty good for the first few blooms.
If you want to go back the the old # 06 thread go here.

Morning Glories 2007 # 07
That's a gorgeous flower!
That's really lovely. Do the blooms stay consistent or is every bloom different? So pretty. Love the color of that one, too!!
I`ll let you know but being an obvious blizzard then that probably means every bloom is different.
Arlan - Your half and half looks amazing! Beautiful bloom!
Kevin - I love the foliage on your Dwarf Picotee Pinks! Really nice and different!
My supposed purgas look just like that, too. I am sure they are lavender moonvine. REAL purga seeds should have a fringe of hair around the seed.
Beth, I did not realize they should have hair to be true purga's. If this
turns out to be lavendar moonvine, turbinata, will be dissapointed. I can't get
that one to live for long. It makes 2 or 3 flowers, I pinch off the seed pods, and it still croaks. I'm not going to sweat it, I'll have lots of m glory flowers to enjoy.
I need to plant turbinata in the ground to see if I get different results.
Gorgeous flower Karen. The color is outrageous and showy.
Dee, This one is very delicate looking and pretty.

Gerris2, The foilage on the platensis is a added plus. Also the shibori is cool. I like that one.
Now here is another picture for today. This came in a giant JMG mix from komeri.

I started photographing the insect life that rest on the morning glory flowers.
Here is a Dolichopodid fly (Long-legged Fly) on a leaf of Ipomoea obscura. For more information on this beneficial fly, see this web site: http://www.floridagardener.com/critters/Beneficial_Insects/Dolichopodidae.htm

Dee . . .
This one is INCREDIBLE

Looks like Ipomoea purpurea?
What is the name of it?
Joseph . . .
You are getting some VERY NICE BLOOMS
Just Love your Ipomoea platensis.
AND,
Your camera takes amazing photos.
Emma
Dee, I don't know why my Fuji only has 5 spokes. Comes up on the fence
every yr from dropped seeds. The original seeds from Parks Seed.
Like the rare mg but love the powdery blue bloom right below
Joseph, nice platensis.
Karen, pretty red but I adore the one you sent yesterday, the large, showy bi-color.
It's my favorite bloom so far.
EmmaGrace, what do you give those MGs to make them so big and so spectacular???
Karen and Emma, this one http://davesgarden.com/forums/fp.php?pid=3693365
was given to me as a gift from a Japanese seller. On the label I wrote unknown gift but it could be Ipomoea Tricolor or Purpurea. The flower size is standard 4-5 inches and it will give back lots of seeds.
Patootie the powdery blue JMG bloom is beautiful in person.
Thanks for your comments guys. TTYL
Dee
Dee, Thanks for the info. . .
Judith,
I just let 'um go.
I do feed them Fish Emulsion when I first plant and again a week or so later. Then if they look like they need a boost, I give them Bloom Buster. Haven't had to feed them a thing this year because of ALL of the rain we are getting EVERYDAY!
My Morning Glories are loving it.
Here is Fuji Murasaki photo from about an hour ago turning to a Deep Purple-Mauve. In fact they are still open and are a Solid Purple-Mauve Color.
Just love the Fuji's.
Emma
I LOVE the Rose Silk Tie Dye! It's so subtle.
Those are simply beautiful blooms, Emma! There ARE some advantages to the rain, isn't there? Rained here today and boy, did it perk up my garden beds. LOL!
Thank you Becky and Judith. . .
I really like the Rose Silk Tie Dyes I've gotten over the years. This is the first one I've grown in several years.
Emma
All the Blooms are looking great...(!)
Dee - This one here

looks like Ipomoea tricolor to me...
A photo of the sepals and/or buds would confirm the species ID...
TTY,...
