I just planted a coral bell last weekend, it was looking great. Now 5 days later I see that it's not doing well. We've had a lot of rain and I noticed that some of the root ball is showing. I replanted it deeper and gave some Vitamine B1 as I watered it in to help w/ root growth. Should this save it?

In what way is the plant not doing well? Symptoms?
I noticed the same thing about my Heuchera this spring that you mentioned about the root ball showing. I just got a new book (Rodale's Illustrated Encylopedia of Perennials- excellent book!) and here's what it says about that: "As clumps grow, they rise above the ground on woody rootstocks." So, actually it's a good sign! I would be careful about planting it too deep, as you don't want the crown to rot.

Well actually a good portion of the leaves were getting dry and crunchy, from the the bottom. I'd remove a dry leaf and the next day there would be a few more.

I'll double check tomorrow to be sure I didn't crown the plant, and pull it out if necessary.
It's weird that it would be dying like that though because we've had rain, and the ground is wet. (not pooled, just wet soil)

When I divide my bells I notice that they die back; but, if you keep them watered you should see new growth coming from the center.

It may be just from stress of being newly planted. Do you have it in shade/part shade?

yeah,
it gets morning sun and afternoon shade. I think Its just from transplant so late in the season. I'll just try to baby it this season and hope for a strong return in the spring

It might be getting too hot in the afternoon sun. What type did you plant? Most, I think, should be planted in mostly shade.
