The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Victor:

It rained so much here yesterday that a chunk of the road I live on washed away. If I wasn't such a baby about storms, I would have gone out and taken photos of the 'river' that our front yard became!!

Did you see the movie 'Poltergist' with all that lightning and wind? That's what it looked like here for about two hours late last night! The light show never stopped until long after I finally (finally!!!) fell asleep.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Wow! And yes I remember that scene.

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Anna and I sat out on the porch (bad place, I know) with the lights off and just watched the show. It sounds like this afternoon and evening will be much the same. We've had rain every day, and in copious amounts, since Saturday ... or was it Friday? Hard to remember. I'd ship some over to you, but the rains are coming to us from northern NY, so it might be kind of hard to push them back your way.

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Boo Hoo. I don't have A/C. I hardly slept a wink last night. Can you see the bags under my eyes? I have to work on the computer in the basement, otherwise it overheats. Otherwise I overheat.

Oh, Celeste!! That sounds like Heaven! Too funny Victor... I could probably roast a chicken on the driveway about now too.

Harper... catch me before I melt.

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Harper - you have my sympathy. I was up at 3:30 am (no a/c) the weather channel said the temperature was still in the 80s and humidity was 97%

I walked around the garden - sat outside, watched tv until 4:30 am, then went back to sleep on the living room couch (bedroom is on the 2nd floor - much warmer -even with two large windows open and a fan)

Woke up again at 7am.

Needless to say, DH put in the a/c in the bedroom today!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Ugh - anyone without a/c has my sympathy. I don't like using it and hod off as long as possible but sometimes there's no choice. Last night was the first time we slept with it.

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

My big concern is the plants - I feel like I should be watering them - but the ground this morning was still quite moist from thunderstorms yesterday morning. The stuff in pots will have to be watered this evening - but after sundown.

Did I tell you that I think anything over 72 degrees is appalling?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I'd be happy with never hitting 80 degrees.

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Absolutely! I with you Victor.

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

I still don't have AC. I only need it for a couple of weeks a year so .....
I have a comfortable set up in the basement 'shop' for the laptop. Sarah cools off on the cement floor.
We had a feeble sea breeze for a few hours today. It dropped the temps from the high 80s to the low 80s, tolerable.
