Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Is that an admission Andy??

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

I don't understand the question, Victor.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Are you guilty of using Sarah to predict the weather? How are you feeling by the way? Hopefully better.

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

My dog tells the weather great, if he goes outside and lays for a long time the temp is between 60-80, if doesn't stay out long then it's warmer or colder.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

About as accurate as the weather people.

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

You bet - if he comes in wet it's raining, white it's snowing an so on and so on.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Absolutely uncanny!

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

I would never feel guilty about using Sarah to predict the weather, lol. She hears the thunder before I do but I usually know it's coming before she does. (I have radar.) lol
I'm debating whether to call the doc in the morning or not. This is the first evening that I have felt half way OK in a week. But I didn't do anything today except get groceries, sit at the laptop and nap. What a day of work will do to me is the question. I'll decide in the morning. If I have a good night, the worst may be over, I hope. Fresh, line dried linen may help, too.

Feel better Andy!

Mid-Cape, MA(Zone 7a)

Oh my goodness, it's a miracle. . . this California girl, recently transplanted to Cape Cod, is calling her dogs into the house because it is starting to rain, 'long about 8:30 pm. Just dusk. .. and then, against the dark trees, little winking lights in the darkness. Could it be--it IS--fireflies! I've never seen them but that's what they must be. How beautiful. Meanwhile, lightening is sparking in the dark sky. What a show Mother Nature puts on. Those bioluminescent beetles have turned into tiny shooting stars. Just amazing.

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

CapeCod - I saw the first fireflies of the season last night. It is always amazing to this California "Girl" too. I keep wondering - how do they do that?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I love them. Wow, you got them late Cat. I had them earlier than normal this year - in late May! It's usually mid-June.

Nichols, IA(Zone 5a)

Popping in and out to say a fast hi and I'll read all I missed tomorrow.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Hi Billy! Bye Billy!

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Yankee, I really like your lily garden!

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

Thank you, Dave. It's really my only garden. The rest of the yard is SDH (stinkin' dirt hole) right now. But I picked gooseberries today and blueberries - so it's OK.

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

Fire flies / lightning bugs are a treat. A real sign of Summer. They have been active here since late May, more so on warm nights, though.
We got a quarter inch of rain, my overgrown lawn will love it.

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

Maybe the fireflies don't like SDHs and that is why I haven't seen them. Whenever I do see them - they are a treat to this CA "girls" eyes.

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Come to think of it, I haven't seen as many this year.

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

I have only seen fireflies here a couple of times. I saw them as a child when my parents would take us kids from Vancouver to Saskatchewan (a Canadian province north of the Dakotas). We were dazzled by them.

No fireflies west of the Rockies. Nor blackflies either. But there are horseflies, sandflies, and no-see-ums - which all bite.

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

I've been having alot of 'lightning bugs'. I love watching them at night as they have been putting a super show this year.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes I have had more this year than in many. Seeing lots of babies also.

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

We haven't seen any yet - we did see some the first year we lived in Springfield. Are there population surges?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Only after a blackout.

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

I meant of the fireflies . . . honestly, Victor!

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Bah! Ha ha ha!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Birds, bees, fireflies...

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

I haven't seen any yet this year. I'll have to check tonite. It's certainly warmmm enough!

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

I stood in the ice cold shower for an hour today. Oy! My water bill!

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

You guys should live here. A cooling sea breeze came in around 5 PM and dropped the temps from 88 to 75 in no time. It's in the 60s now. I'll need a blanket tonight, lol.
We had a similar drop yesterday but it came with 3/4 inch of rain.
I'm feeling much better today. I put in a regular day at work and even got a little weeding done. Sarah got her walk and I had a cool beer to boot.
The lawn is looking like a jungle, maybe tomorrow if it's not hot.
Andy P

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

Glad to hear you are better.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Not fair Andy!! It's still 84 here right now. You lucky dog. I mean dogs.

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

It's 80* here. But that's the inside temp with the AC on.

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

ouch!

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

all I can say is thank God for AC

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes - A/C is underestimated as one of the greatest inventions!!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

It's been cool here and we have had a much needed rain shower everyday for the last 4 days. My garden is shooting up with appreciation!! I was in jeans, shoes, socks and 3/4 sleeved shirt yesterday and was still cold. So I baked a roaster chicken in the oven with red-skined garlic mashed potaoes, broccoli, french bread. and for desert we had Lemon-Raspberry pie. Today they are predicting 85 and humid......don't think the oven will need to be on today!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Sure, rub it in Celeste! I roasted a chicken on my driveway yesterday.

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Right now it's 78 and oppressively humid! But, last night's T-storms were amazing!!!!!!
We got WAY too much rain, and I fear what the flower beds will look like this morning - I haven't been out yet with so much to do inside first.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

We can use some rain here.
