Being in Manhattan so much, I have seen my share of 'stars'. Robert Vaughn, Bowser from Sha Na Na, Jack Klugman (my father met Tony Randall!), Marv Albert (sportscaster) to name a few. I am not one who gets too excited about that stuff.

I'm not sure these singers celebrate misogyny as much as encourage it as a way of life. Although listening to some of the lyrics, misogyny is too narrow. Misanthropy might be better put.
How about mis-everything? Or better yet, Dis - everything!
I kept thinking of that one with the shoe quiz question -' I got my crocs on my feet and my hoes by my side'.
That sounds like a happy gardener song.
Or one who 'manages' women.
Yeah - like that is possible. >snort
like to see them try...ha!
No I was referring to 'working women', if you get my drift.
I think they are playing with you Victor.
I know rap doesn't have to be antisocial. But I still don't like the lack of music in rap. People thought Rock & Roll was evil but it was often about trying to make the world a better place. Peace, love, not being materialistic. Maybe naive but very different than singing about one's bling, women and ability to bust a cap in someone's bottom.
Well, there were some stuff that was clearly misogynist, like Motley Crue. The best thing about that group was . . . if you went to a guy's apartment and he had all their records, you claimed you had a headache, left, then changed your phone number. no point wasting a lot of time with some fellows.
Other songs like "American Woman" by the Guess Who and others . . . it wasn't all romance and sweetness. In fact, there seems to be a connection between the growing economic indepence of women and hostility towards women in music. Am I reading too much into this?
Wow! Someone else is awake!
Hey Seandor. There has never been a lack of sexism, but I'm not sure I agree with your theory. It's taken lots of forms.
No, I don't think so Michaela. And I agree with your point too, Dave. Aside from the garbage lyrics - it's not MUSIC. These guys could not sing Happy Birthday. Yet it's treated as music. Weird. And what are you two doing up at that hour?!!
I give up Michaela - who?
I wonder too Victor.
The in DG crowd is very nocturnal.
I actually go to bed very early - but DH has allergies - so no open windows , and the room was too hot. So I was up at 1:30 with a headache and not much chance of getting any sleep; however a short time on DG was an effective treatment for insomnia (just kidding)
Just a reminder. A live Tanglewood concert is on now. www.wcrb.com/
Pixie, Sarah is intent on the squirrel she had treed.
How about conejo negro? I think that is spanish for black rabbit.
Shadow?
BB certainly looks less demonic in this picture. Looks like a domestic escapee.
I had a black rabbit - I called him "Blackie" - wasn't that very original for a 6 year old??
I don't think I ever met any real celebrities. I got John Daly and Curtis Strange's autographs at a golf tournament is about it.
I was never into autographs as I feel they are just like us, just get bigger paychecks and some don't have any privacy. I've met Tom Selleck [he was playing volleyball at my college at the time], Carol Alt and her husband Ron Greshner [I was friends with Carol's sister, until she became too 'famous' being a large size model] and I used to work with Brian Dennehy's daughter as a waitress at the Milleridge Inn [I don't remember her well and really didn't think of it until I saw Cocoon and tied her with her Dad a couple of years later].
Harper, I hope for your sake Yoko didn't sing - or even hum. Anita, my cousin was married at the Milleridge Inn. And my grandparents celebrated their 50th anniversary there.
being a large size model
somebody has their claws on today ;)~
no, really - that's what she did...
Maybe it's a cross-pollinated..
Yank, love your lily bed! Nice vibrant colors, who cares what their names are??!!
Yeah, what a beautiful lily bed Yankee.
Victor - no, she didn't make a noise - thank goodness!!!
Wow! I love your yellow star gazers! i can hardly wait for mine!
Great Lilies, Cat. I remember Carol Alt being gorgeous.
Did anyone notice that the last poll question regarding gardening by the moon has resulted in a new Forum of the same name??!! Maybe we can have one for those who can predict the weather based on their lumbago pain!
Or their dog's behavior, lol.
