Boy, that centaurea is pretty, Chris. I've seen them in the garden catalogs but have never seen one in someone's garden.

I need to try to get out and get some pictures today if I can and I'll get some yellow pictures for you.

I could save you some seeds if you want, just let me know.

Chris

Many Blackeyed susans(annuals) although they look a lot like your gloriosas, maybe I have that ?
One daylily unknown name but it's almost exactly the same yellow as the Arm and Hammer detergent bottle I use as a watering can.
Zero camera- DD took it to the beach !

chris- good job!

Sally, get that camera back and get shutter happy!

Thanks Sally, things are really coming together this year in the yard. I need to start taking mum cutting before the 4th. Where has June gone???

Shenandoah Valley, VA

Gloriosa daisy is just another name for blackeyed Susans. Chris, I would love some seeds. I have a baby perennial blue centaurea that actually has a flower. If I get seeds, would you like some? It's this one. (I wish mine would hurry up and get this big. It's from a very tiny start sent in a trade last year and is still very small.)

Too busy watering today to take pictures but I did notice that one plant of my self sown blackeyed Susans has a green eye. Very pretty.

Hart. I'd love some. I don't have that one. Now with my new fence going up I will have more room for flowers. Yea!!

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

thanks hart- I didnot know that (obviously!) I started these with seed bought with the green eye, but believe they reverted back to this brown eye, it's been years since I bought htat seed. Or got wild ones, I dunno.
I don't seem to have much yellow planned this year. I saved some marigold seed and remember saving only the flowers from the less common color in the mix, to try and keep the mix, and so far all are red. Happy but surprised . Thought yellow/ gold would be dominant. I do remember my high school genetics lesson Mendel's sweet peas..
June flew!! 4th of July always seems to come so soon.

There is an annual rudbeckia that has a green eye and also a perennial one. You may have had the annual.

Okay, yellow flowers. Here is daylily Big Smile. The yellow and the pink edges have faded a bit in this heat.

Solidago Baby Gold isn't liking this heat very much either. It will perk back up when it gets cooler.

The santolina has just about bloomed out so the color has faded. I love this plant. It's tough as nails, has gorgeous foliage that is green just about all year and then has these pretty button flowers for weeks every summer. Has a very fragrant foliage too.

I don't know the name of this gaillardia. It was supposed to be Burgundy, which it obviously isn't. It has been a very vigorous plant that blooms and blooms and blooms.

I just got this plant at the Bluestone sale. It's Heliopsis Loraine Sunshine. I love the variegated foliage and looks like the blooms are going to be very pretty too.

This is the rudbeckia that popped up with green eyes.

We have alot of yellows :) which include cowslip, evening primrose, regular blk eyed Susans, Rudbeckia triloba 'branched coneflower', various lilies (the one in the photo is the prettiest, I only know it as an Asiatic lily no other info), wild senna cassia hebecarpa (new this yr), tall perennial sunflowers with sweet 2" blooms, jerusalem artichokes, the usual marigolds etc.

I liked the post of heliopsis Lorraine I put it on my wish list! The variegated foliage is nice :)

my hymenocallis -anxiously looking for first ever bloom for me
w- that freebie daylily kind of different, more flat and upfacing?

Metro DC, MD(Zone 7a)

Sally - well, I'm no expert, but that's my thought as well. I've had some people come through and wonder what they are. They have a light fragrance as well... cannot quite put my finger on the scent though; almost a bit rose-like.
