Very pretty, Kim!
Best time to photo flowers?
I thought of this thread today when I was at a friends at sunset. I was sniffing the first garden phlox and noticed something very delicate. I had fun experimenting with the flash.
"I'll be back."
Very nice Andy!
Beautiful, Andy!
Great night shots Andy....love that second one!
Kim
Gorgeous night shot!!
The last one posted woulld make a beautiful matted and framed picture for a wall grouping.
Nice job Andy!!
Sasha (lurker, since I'm a lousy photographer) lol
Love your frog, Victor.
Thanks guys. I agree, the second is the better one. The first is missing something, maybe I'll bring the misting bottle next time. That might add something, lol.
This is turning into an interesting thread, keep it going.

Would the mist be for you or the plant??
Andy - can you first try making it darker, than lighter than the first photo shown? The results might be interesting.
Jan, the more you shoot the better you will get. It also helps to look at lots of photos and when you see the ones that look good to you - ask yourself why. Also, look at things from different angles when shooting. Get down at the level of the subject - this is very important when photographing kids. Close-ups are great of course. Sometimes a photo looks better if it's slightly out of focus. Learn to use some manual controls, if you have not already done so. I am constantly changing the white balance because the auto setting on my camera stinks. I often change the exposure settings as well.
Great pictures, everyone! I love the frog and his expression.
I only have a point and shoot which is not great for extreme close up stuff. I definitely prefer overcast skies for my pics. But I have a shade garden which only gets sun in the late afternoon and evening and that sometimes makes for nice, warm artistic shots (as opposed to trying capture real color)
I do also like it when dappled sun comes thru the trees and lands right on certain plants, lighting it up...then I run and grab my camera because I like the dramatic lighting
Astilbe just about blooming
Great shot Pirl! Love that warm evening light.
Wow, pirl- that is gorgeous! That would make an incredible piece of art if blown up really big and hung on a wall. Love the color.
I love white astilbe- just wish the stuff bloomed longer than it does.
I think I have almost as many pics of my plants now as I do my dogs...which is a LOT.
I want to spray paint my astilbe when they're done.
Thanks for the compliments.
I love that leaf Arlene!!! Great colors! I love astilbe too Noreaster
When the back steps are filled with Caladiums (five pots growing) it should be nice, too.
Thanks, Anita.
Hello Noreaster! I love your town!
Pirl, I hope you are having a wonderful vacation.
Noreaster, that's funny about having so many pictures. I beginning to think I have more plant pictures than I have of my kids *lol*
Once in a while I will go through them and ask.....do I need this one.....9 time out of 10 I do "need" it *lol*
Kim
Dave - I'm at home, not exactly vacation since I still cook and clean!
Kim - me, too!
Don't cha just luv it? So many plants.....so little time :) LOTS of computer space to fill *lol*
Noreaster - I LOVE your photo of the Lily of the Valley
I have way more garden photos than kid photos!
Thanks, Seandor and Dave.
Now those of you that have more pics of your plants than your kids- that's bad, lol. If I had kids, I'm sure I'd still have more pics of my plants and dogs. In fact I need to go out and get yet another hard drive for my computer to accomodate them all. Who has time to delete?
I thought deleting was why we have winter. Who knew?
We have winter so we can winter-sow all those plants we couldn't possiblly afford to buy from the nursery.
