I only have a point and shoot which is not great for extreme close up stuff. I definitely prefer overcast skies for my pics. But I have a shade garden which only gets sun in the late afternoon and evening and that sometimes makes for nice, warm artistic shots (as opposed to trying capture real color)

I do also like it when dappled sun comes thru the trees and lands right on certain plants, lighting it up...then I run and grab my camera because I like the dramatic lighting
