Name of gardening tool?

OK I have lost/misplaced where I put my favorite tool! LOL :(( I have no clue what it is called in came in a set and I thought it was a spade but I can't find a "spade" that is not actually a shovel! LOL

It was/is a hand held tool and is shaped like a triangle (not a perfect triangle, two sides where longer) and it is really sharp on the bottom side.

Can anyone tell me what it is called so I can go buy another one until I can find my favorite one!

I have looked for pictuers of spade all over the net. They all looked like shovels! LOL

I did not look for a trowel. I did find a picture of a Dutch Hand Weeder and a Swoe (like I know how to say that! LOL) and they looked very close to the same thing.

I also found a picture of a Single Tine Hand Hoe which was kind of the same thing but it was attached different (on a different side) then mine! I think you use it different too. I looks to me like a Golf Putter! LOL But I don't play Golf so....

Mine had the handle attached on the top left long side and was very sharp on the bottom long side. The shorter side of the triangle was on the left.

I could chop with it like a hoe or use the pointier end to dig with! HUMMM

I never have known what they are called! LOL

It is not a trowel or a shovel. Oh I wish I could find a pic of it!! LOL When you layed it down the tip/back end of the handle would lay on the ground and the sharp edge of the triangle would as well. Therefore the triangle where the handle was attached was pointing up. If that helps.

I will see if I can find a pic of it again! AWWW I bet when I find out what it is I will NEVER forget! LOL

LOL Well thank you! I LOVE IT!! I have used it to plant all of my flower bed! LOL I use it to dig a hole with and when you are planting something that comes out of a 6 pack (you know the ones that are in a black plastic pack, not sure you have them in Assuie land! LOL) they make the perfect hole! Not to big! You just have to make sure you get it deep enough, and the hole does not cave in, and you can use it to "carve" the sides/edges of the hole too! I also use it like a hoe so yes it is my best friend! LOL

I would love to go to Australia!! I am still so sad that the Croc Hunter died before I got to go and meet him! But my 7 year old daughter and I have started watching Bindi on Animal plante! She does a great job, and her new series with her Mom is great too!

LOL I know it is funny (Like she is my did or I even really know her/them!) LOL but I worry how she has ajusted and it looks like she did a great job! LOL

Anyway..... Back to tools, yes you should look for one! I have tried both places here in my small town and can't find one! :((

My tool is a hand held tool. Here is the picture/link of the one I found on the net that looks very close to the same. Going left to right it is the second picture, and has a red tipped handle. Here is another picture http://www.gardenscapetools.com/pages/SNSSGroup.htm the two on the left look close. The one on the every end is the closest, but mine pointed the other way or to the right, and the top edge was a straight and the other tow sides! Thus the triangle shape!

They are calling it s Cape Cod Weeder. HUMMM Maybe if I look long enough! LOL

Yes that is the one that I found on Google! But this one looks exactly (as close as I can tell with it being wood, and from one side!) The one I am missing. Well finding your garden tool became my mission! A few Google searches and other gardening websites and I found the link to Amazon with that other gadget on it. Although I have to say your tool definitely is unique! I've never seen anything like it... and I love a new gadget!

Yes this is a very cool and useful tool! I guess it is a weeder or a hoe, but I use it for so many things! It is just so handy and useful! I literally was lost with out it! LOL Oh well at least I have a new shovel and hoe now too, which are both standard size though!! Thanks to not being able to find anything simulr to this to to the area under two trees for my Dianthus! LOL

Although I initially thought it was the 'Ko Gama Hoe', I suspect it's actually the 'Nijiri Gama Hoe'

Another web search led me to ebay....after digging around ebay I saw something similar that was Japanese and then I kind of 'ran with it'. Hehehehe Hey, I'm at work, what else do I have to do besides surf the net for new garden toys!

Glad you found your favorite tool Txflower. It looks to be a marvelous help for many purposes. Weeding, planting, killing slugs! Don't you wish we could put little tiny cell phones on all our tools and call them like I have to, to locate my lost cell phone. Voice mails I've left myself wandering about the yard or woods listening for the ring: "Where are you? If you're down by the apple trees again, there's going to be trouble..." "Answer me: where ARE you?" LOL

Ok, I went to Garden Shop Online and I bought that 'Nijiri Gama Hoe' and it really is a neat little tool. So, I went back and bought the longer handled version and I really like it too. :) I'm such a sucker for a neat tool. :) Thanks Txflower for turning me on to it. :)

I'd probably just get the long handled one. I probably won't use the short handled one as much as the long handled one, but I can see where the SH might come in handy in tight space. But I will definitely use the long handled one the most. :) Check out the site. I also got a sharpener for the blade of the hoe...

In case anyone is interested. I looked at the www.gardenshoponline.com website and they have a good group of unusual tools. The shipping is a flat rate of $5. I put an order together with a few friends and got everything in 3 days. I found a small hand rake I had been searching for 2 years to replace.

Prentbon, would you care to say which hand rake you recommend? That sounds good for working in raised beds.
