About how long is it from the time green, yellow wax and roma beans flower till you harvest? Do they continue to produce or is it a one time flowering? I am going away for 6 days and someone recommended I pull all the flowers before I go to help the plants survive better, if I do that will I still get a good harvest? A friend offered to come pick stuff for me, and I would love for her to share my harvest, but would it be just as well if I pull off all the flowers now and perhaps have a good yield anyway? (I'll still share ) Lisa
time between flower and harvest
I would never consider pulling blossoms. Those things have a lot of blossoms and it would be like knitting a quilt. Tedious and time consuming. Depending on cultivar bloom to picking takes a week to 10 days. Some cultivars hold better than others so you have about a week as a window to pick them. Bush cultivars typically have about two blossom sets. There are a few that tend to be more everbearing, but most set a crop and get out of the way.
Thank-you, that answers my question- looks like my friends will be reeping my harvest- at least some of it!
