Yellow sugar baby watermelon

Tucson, AZ

Like I said in another post, this is my second attempt this season. My first was done indoors and fried in one day from me forgetting to water them. These I sowed outside last Saturday and popped up in about 4 days. However, one popped up bright yellow. Is this normal? Should I just pick it? Does anyone know what can cause it?

I'd leave it, just to see what happens, but maybe someone who actually knows something will help you. I do have a tendancyto like oddball things, so the idea of a yellow watermelon plant appeals to me. If you pull it out, can I have it? (Just kidding, it would never survive the trip.....)

Ah, strange. After I put down compost, new soil, and fish fertilizer, it turned green.

When seedlings come up yellow like that, it's usually an indicator that you don't have enough nitrogen in your soil. That's why the things you added turned it green.
