Here is a cotyledon pair of an unknown labeled as Chinese yellow flowers. It has bronze to almost purple colored cotyledons, a color I have not been able to capture on "film" yet.

Here are a couple images of Q0426, free standing without a trellis. It appears to be sending up a vine now...Arlan, how tall will this vine get?

Q0426 #2.

Here are leaves of JMG Sun Smile Blue, showing some nice leaf variegation.

Here are 3 different morning glories I received in a trade with a plant scientist in South America. This one is I think Merremia dissecta; its vines are really starting to take off after a slow start.

Here is the second one, species unknown.

And the third, species unknown.

Last 2 for now. This one I uploaded previously in a different thread, just new flowers. Maybe you can make out the faint yellow color in the tube. It is very nice but its flowers are small, 3 inches in diameter at most.

I lied, one last image of The Tower of Ethiopia on my deck, Ipomoea obscura, that small orange flowering MG from last year.

Joseph,
you are growing quite a variety also. It will be something when they start blooming.

Karen,
I love that color, .. it is one of my favorite colors. Very hard to capture that specific color with the camera.

Thanks, Ron and Antoinette for your comments. Ron, thanks for the possible identification of the plants. I see no sign of flower buds yet on the unknowns. Maybe in a couple more weeks there will be some flower action.

Baton Rouge area, LA(Zone 8b)

It`s nice to see all the new babies this year. It will be fun to watch and see what develops.

That first flower is definitely purple and the magenta in the throat follows the folds in the flower so I suspect a ray pattern may be hiding in there? It seems impossible to capture the true depth of the colors here on this one. I plan on growing it again in mass to see the affect and to see if there are any interesting genes hiding in there.

Here is the light blue one with the fancy foilage. I thought it looked refreshing settled in the natural setting with the pink crape myrtles.

Nice vines you have going there, GiddyMoon!

I noticed small root-like structures growing from the leaf node of the unknown Merremia species vine I am growing.

Here's a closer view.

Look who is going to flower tomorrow! Ipomoea tricolor (?) 'Wetterleuchten'. I love the unfurled corolla, looks like a big soft serve ice cream cone.

Here are the sepals, up close and personal.

Look what started making flower buds just from yesterday...here are the leaves.

http://pics.davesgarden.com/pics/Gerris2_1182209443_427.jpg

is as I suspected either Ipomoea alba var.heterophylla or Ipomoea turbinata...the stubs growing out of the stems is much more commonly seen on Ipomoea turbinata, but I've seen them on certain strains of Ipomoea alba...interesting plant...if it's an I.alba >I'd be interested in a few seeds...

This plant here
http://pics.davesgarden.com/pics/Gerris2_1182209563_746.jpg
may have been labeled as 'tricolor' but the sepals are clearly those of Ipomoea purpurea...

The super excellent closeup of the Ipomoea purpurea sepals you posted here

belongs in the PlantFiles...

is either Ipomoea hederacea or Ipomoea nil...
I'm leaning towards Ipomoea hederacea but as the tips of the sepals develop along with the flowerbuds, flowers and seedpods >a more definitive IDentity can be rendered...

Great photos...(!)

Thanks for your great comments on these flowers, Ron, I really appreciate it. The Ipomoea purpurea marketed as I. tricolor 'Wetterleuchten' opened a little this morning but not fully before I had to go to work. The color is a nice lavender but the camera I am using doesn't seem to capture that hue. I will have to break out the film camera to get an accurate photo of that one. I will post the photo of what I took this morning later on today.

Joseph

Here is Ipomoea purpurea 'Wetterleuchten' almost open. It never unfurled fully today and will have to catch the opened flower on another day.

...enjoying all the pictures! Thanks all!

Joseph, your Q0426 plants look great. Both of them are trilobed, so they qualify as parent plants for the system..meaning they can carry the feathered gene and the duplicate gene. They could also possibly bloom double...!

My Q0426 parent plants have always been very vigorous and have grown as big as the other medium sized flower JMGs. Last year mine quickly grew to the top of the 8 foot trellis and then doubled up and down again what seemed like a couple times!

Arlan

Thanks for that information, Arlan, I need to put a gigondo trellis near that plant!

A pretty Kawaii from Emma. I see a tiny bit of purple in there.

Nice plants and photos everyone..

Ronnie, that little one is so cute, I like it.

I haven't been able to be on here much, the darn wind has me hopping.. yesterday we had another storm and it kept me on my feet.

Joseph, great plants there.. I've yet to get any fragrant MGs.

Here is one of the Chinese morning glory unknowns, first seed leaf. Interesting palmate leaf with loads of hairs.

Here is the flower of Ipomoea purpurea sold as 'Wetterleuchten' by Chilterns Seeds. It has a more blue than purple corolla and the darker markings really stand out in "real life". I like it, but it has a resemblence to I. purpurea with other cultivar names, doesn't it? I took some photos using my 35mm film camera to see if it will capture the true hue. I will post those images later this weekend.

This blue unknown JMG from Komeri came back to life after being in suspended growth for a couple weeks.

The Wetterleuchten is lovely, even if it is another look alike. I'm growing
the Midnight Velvet this yr because I haven't grown any of these for a while. Curious about the description Chiltern's gave
in their cat.
I love the light blue color of your unk JMG.

Joseph, Love the blue one!!

Kawaii in red? From the same seeds as the white one I posted earlier. I noticed the white one had solid leaves and the red is variegated.

A new cultivar, Ronnie! Call it Kawaii Five-0 LOL it's very nice JMG.
