Hello,
I planted 7 Black Eyed Susans around my walk way and I thought the area was full sun but it seems like it is maybe 75-80% sun will they do ok? Some of them seem dropy; the ground is sandy and a bit rocky should I add better soil or should I move them?
I should mention they bounce back when I drown them in water so maybe they just need time to adjust??
Thoughts??
Thanks,
-Kerry
Black Eyed Susan help
They will droop in the heat of the day, and won't do it so much the more established they become, they will do great. Mine get some shade too, and they seem to like the bad soil, they just need some time.
My BES reseed in cracks with no soil practically - so I wouldn't worry about that. I would just keep watering them until they recover. They are very prone to powdery mildew so do all the watering in the morning.
Thanks bigcityal, for mentionong that! I have new BES it seems growing out of nothing but rock! I think I'm going to have a bazillion of them!
I have planted Black eyed Susans for the past two years in a bed of perrenials. They never seem to come back the next year and get weedy during the growing season. It is a vacation home so I am not always there to water and such but usually get there at least once a week in the summer.
