About two years I planted purple petunias in my shade garden. Since then, I've added tons of dirt, done a lot of digging, planted lots of different things, basically disturbing every inch of the garden at one point. Just the other day I've discovered one mystery purple petunia growing.....in the same area that I had the petunias two years ago. Is it possible for one to spring up after two years?

Sure it is ...you have exposed a seed....petunias happily self seed given the chance.....I break open the little seed capsule and scatter the little seeds over bare earth...and press them down gently and they usually pop up fairly well ...of course you never know what colour but it is great fun.The single ones seem to be the best to self seed.If it is still little move it into some sun.More flowers and stronger growth that way.
Thanks! I was pretty surprised to see it!
