Bookmark feature?

Dave's just making sure we're awake and paying attention! LOL

Thank you, Dave. This feature is awesome!!

Would it possible to include it as a preference on our 'Custom Menu'?

Thank you Dave! I love this feature. And the ability to edit the titles is terrific, I can use my own words to make it easier to remember why I bookmarked it.

Oh my ... I did the same thing that everyone else did. I found the cute little button this morning and couldn't help myself. Clicked it a couple of times to see what it would do. LOL Thanks Dave for fixing it so we can straighten out our mistakes. So glad I didn't blow anything up or change my settings. I'll check over here next time before I go clicking ... just in case. :)

Great feature Dave, thanks so much!!

Right now I have to scroll over to get to the bookmark icon (okay I admit I have Lazy Wrist Syndrome). Would it be possible to move the icon to the line that says "Watch Thread - Print - Post Reply - Skip to New"? It would be less work for my tired wrist plus it seems more logical to have it there rather than next to the search box.

Interesting idea, NoH2O! But if you just want to save a particular post or page, those options aren't there. And for me, I do want to save just individual post and pages here on DG. :-)

Everson, WA(Zone 8a)

I guess I'm confused despite my morning mocha. The bookmark button is for saving a page or post, isn't it? I just think it should be relocated to the top and/or bottom of the thread as part of the list of other options available in dealing with that particular thread rather than off in the corner by itself where my lazy wrist has to scroll to see it. LOL

NoH2O, try resizing your desktop. Right click on your desktop (where the icons are) and select Properties. Then select Display and change the size to something like "1024x768". That will make the windows wider and you'll see everything all at once.

best,
dave

Dave - Mine is already set to wide and I don't see it in the top center of any thread frame. The favorite folder icon is showing up in the top right hand corner of my DG screen. I think NoH2O is talking about the option being included in the top frame of the threads in the center of the screen, but that frame (with options) doesn't show up on individual posts when you hit the Post#. But I do agree, it would be really sweet to have it there instead of to the far right on the screen. :-)

But I am happy either way just to have this wonderful options that I am already using! Thanks again, Dave for making it possible!!! :-)

We can't put it anywhere else, since it appears across the whole site, not just within the forums or the threads.

Okay, Dave, I resized my desktop and I can see the whole shebang. My wrist feels better already. Now my eyes are complaining so I am fiddling with font sizes. LOL

Becky is right - I was talking about moving it to the center of the screen but I didn't realize it applied to the entire site, not just threads.

No matter where it is located it is a great addition. Thank you!

Dave ... it's just great. No problems with the location or reading it here. ;)

P.S.
Sorry, I just couldn't help myself. LOL

NoH2O, go to your Preferences here at DG and you can adjust the font sizes. I have mine set pretty large and they are quite easy on the eyes. :)

Dave, is there ANYTHING you haven't thought of???

Most of them aren't my ideas but ideas from the members here. :)

Dave, am I missing something or am I suppose to be able to save a single post and not just a thread to my favorites? If so, I'm sure it's just me doing something wrong but wanted to be sure as I keep trying and can't get it to work. Thanks!

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Hi IO1 - It is working for me just fine. If you go to a thread, find the post you want to save, hit the Post# (small blue numbering under the date and time under the person's name/location/zone and click on it. That will bring the post up. Then hit your folder icon in the top righthand corner and it should be automatically added to your favorites. Then you can go into your favorites folder and edit or delete.

I hope that helps. :-)

Oh Becky ... that was sooo simple, and I was trying to make it difficult! LOL Thanks so much for helping! :-)

Thanks, becky! I'd asked this question of Dave a while ago but got no answer.

Cool! Thanks, Dave.

Dave, is there any way we can add the Favorites to our Home Page or to the menu bar?

If I missed it, I'm sorry, can someone tell me? This is so useful, I'd like to have it right there where I can get to it instantly.

See the little manila folder just below tha menu bar and to he right of the search? That is your favorites!

Dublin, CA(Zone 9a)

The manila folder will add the current page to your favorites, if you want to view your favorites then you have to go through "My Info". Or when you click the folder icon to add the current page to your favorites, the page it takes you too will also have a link to view your favorites.

Yes, ecrane, perhaps I didn't word my question properly. I know how to add a favorite, but would like to access the list through one click.

Dublin, CA(Zone 9a)

I know what you were asking (I'd like it too!) My post was really in response to GrammysGarden who thought you could get to the fav's by clicking the folder icon.

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

In answer to your question, Dave posted his reasons for keeping it the way it is currently:
http://davesgarden.com/forums/p.php?pid=3610352

Edited to add:

DG Favorites is listed in your "My Info" page.

That's not what is being requested, what people want is a way instead of having to click on "my info" then "view favorites", to have the "view favorites" link show up right on the home page. That has nothing to do with Dave's post regarding why the folder icon has to show up in the same place on every page, totally understand the reasoning for that one but this is a different question.

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Ahhh, I see what you're asking for - and I am guessing there may be a way to set it up (as an admin I have a link to my assigned helpdesk messages in the upper right-hand corner of my "home" page; unless there's a technical problem, I bet Dave could make the "favorites" folder link a customizable feature we could ad to our home pages, too.

Super! Glad the idea came through - with ecrane's help.
