June Bingo Calls

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I only promised jannich and Brenda surprise boxes two weeks ago...........don't give up on me...........besides i want to trade!!!! They have something that I want!!!!!

Oh Gail, those are wonderful!! What are those Episcias in the middle that are so pink? I love those! Let me know how you like that Pentadinia. I love the pink berries it gets. I need to check and see if the berries are poisonous. My dogs leave my plants alone, but anything they find on the floor they consider fair game and I'd be afraid the berries would drop or get knocked off. Anyone know about their toxicity? Which chimeras do you have growing there? Details, lady, details!! LOL

I'm thinking this thread is getting a bit long for anyone on dial-up, so when I make the calls tomorrow, I'll start a new thread. I'll copy all the current calls over, link to it from here, and we'll carry on as usual! :o) I love it that we all chat so much about so many things during the Bingo games!

Rain, I am sooooooooooo mad that my printer just went out and won't upload photos.....I don't know enough about a computer to do anything until i can get the computer tech out.............the printer keeps saying memory card error.........frustrating...
The variegated episcias are Pink Dreams, Cleopatra, Pink Brocade and Pink Shimmer Valley..........aren't they great, but Rob says they must be grown under glass or in a mini greenhouse......the more variegated they are the more sensitive to cold and drafts.....

You are sooooooooo funny......I am embarrassed to tell you what chimeras I am growing............I made a trade and got these babies!!!!!!!! I have an order into Lyndon Lyons for many chimeras to trade with the person who gave me these....We are trading chimeras.....

Gail those are some fabulous episcias! No worries about my surprise box as I ended up swamped this week with digging plants at an old house and now I'm trying to get them all planted around my house! Whenever you get to it will be great.

I found the name to another episcia I have yesterday during my Paypal searches. I hadn't told you about it because I didn't know it's name for sure. It is called Pink Panther and it's another beauty, once again if by some miracle you don't have it : )) I'll include it in our trade. It needs some stolen removal so I can get some more blooms! I'll attach a picture below.

Oh no Gail! Get him there fast! LOL I have to use my printer to upload my photos, too. My husband uses a Dazzle which hooks up by USB port to his computer. It will read any of like 8 different kinds of card. We have the exact same camera model. He can use the Dazzle to get his pictures off his card, but it won't read mine. Says the card isn't formatted, so I have to use the printer. Weird, isn't it? We can't figure that one out.

Those episcias really are something else! You buy the coolest plants! LOL We'll be expecting pictures of those new chimeras when you get them. :o) I love pictures!

And here is Aloha Mauna Loa that we've spoken about...

Your episcia is so pretty, too Brenda! Mine aren't nearly as impressive as all of y'alls. They've only been in the terrarium for a week or two, though, and they're looking better already. :o) I found the tiniest KeeWee still struggling today. I thought I'd lost it completely, but not yet! :o) I need to go get my camera...

This is my Checkerboard episcia. It was sent as a free gift with one of my eBay purchases and was my first episcia. I didn't even know what they were when I got this one but I soon looked them up and got a few more! This one has always stayed a small compact grower for me and it has bloomed a lot. The first two I showed are in 6 inch pots but this one is still in a 3 inch pot and it's my oldest one.

RG, I love pictures too, bring 'em on!

Forgot the picture of Checkerboard!!

RG I only have four episcias and so far all of them have grown just fine in the house without any extra humidity. Although I do notice a few lighter leaves that are a bit dry on Pink Panther. We heat with wood during the winter so the air is pretty dry in my house so I'm surprised they do so well.

Brenda, I would love Aloha Mauna Loa and the Pink Panther....I have Checkerboard which came from Gary......
Let me tell you how cheap Dell computers are......they are in trouble financially and I am happy!!! (mean of me) but I paid a lot for this new computer and the computer tech had to add one more USBport....Dell had rigged it so i only had one and they had rigged the second one. When one went out the whole computer went down.....that is why I have to upload through the printer....all for the price of 2000.00 for this Dell computer...I hope their stock keeps dropping. Everyone in Texas always had a Dell computer but not anymore.............none of the big companies order them anymore.....

Now for pictures, i love pictures, too...............waaaaah waaaah I can't upload any until I get a new printer.....i am impressed that you have 6 " containers of episicas......I mess with mine so much and experiment......have to let some of them get real big by taking off all stolons.......it is like all the energy goes into that one stem and the leaves are giant!!!! and beautiful!!!!

Here's my larger terrarium. It has a few smaller episcias in it, along with an Alsobia, Pink Princess philo, Stromanthe, begonia, fittonia, variegated Peace lily, variegated arrowhead vine, purple velvet Gynura, strawberry begonia, and a couple other things I can't remember. LOL

Last but not least is my Silver Skies episcia. It's never put out a stolen and it's growth pattern reminds me a trailing violet. It has four new blooms on it. I love this little guy, it's in a two inch container.

I may be forced to go iron at least two pair of pants (LOL)...............I will have to face reality and get up mighty early and take off......you all keep having fun.....if I had a laptop, I could take it with me......isn't that sick (LOL) to miss DG so much you need a laptop where ever you go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here's my smaller one with Blue Heaven, Grey Lady, Chocolate Soldier and maybe one more...I'd have to check my list. LOL

How pretty, Rain.!!!!.....if you pinch the top off that Fittonia it will start branching big time......I really love that dark green one on the far left in the front of the picture....can't remember what it is but I got one the other day......

And here's the two Teddy Bears you sent me, Gail! They're growing so much already! :o) Thank you for them!

Rain, you have lots of Blue Heaven.....Brenda....you showed one of my favorites (I have the Silver Skies)......if you have it in a 2" pot.....it looks big and healthy.............go for bigger.......I am thinking that I better take these stolons on mine in the vase and start new ones......everyone is saying they don't get stolons from Silver skies

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

You still have that child, MsC?????? I would be in the bed 4 hours ago......you are a mighty brave lady!!!!

OK....I quit after this post.....wish my camera were working right now as Teddy Bear now has 4 flowers on her, Rain....it is the most wonderful pink

It's a beauty, Gail! I can't wait to see mine bloom! :o)

Brenda, Checkerboard is really pretty! Silver Skies is one of my favorites. I had one and tried everything under the sun to keep it alive - in a terrarium, out of a terrarium, in a small terrarium all by itself, nothing worked, so it eventually died.

Gail, I believe that dark green plant on the far left you mentioned is the Pellionia - Polynesian Ivy. I like it a lot and it goes INSANE in a terrarium! It completely took over the last time I had it in one. This is just a little start I stuck in there to get it going.

I have tons of Blue Heaven, so if anyone needs one, just holler. LOL It grows so fast!

MsC, I admire you for watching Barney. I don't think I could do it anymore. LOL Baby Bop far surpasses what my nerves can tolerate! LOL

Braselton, GA(Zone 7b)

BINGO!!!!...LOL Just trying it out for size...keep you on your toes..lol

You're just BAAAAADDDD!!! ROFL!!!

Braselton, GA(Zone 7b)

ROFLOL....I know, couldn't help myself....:)

Then I guess I'm sick Gail cause I have a laptop and I take it every where : )) Can't live without my family e-mail's and now I'll have DG too. Most all of the hotels etc have internet now and my family all has it. So have laptop, will travel! Actually it is my "play" computer anyway as my desk top is off line and has all the important book work and payroll stuff on it for our business.

RG I love the big terrarium with the wide variety of plants. I saw a huge aquarium at a yard sale a couple weeks back. I'm talking really big, I'm quite sure I could have gotten into it and maybe not laid out straight but I would have fit! I would love to have brought it on home and really gone to town with it. We would have had to give up the guest room for it though. : 0) and my husband wouldn't have gone for it, rats! Is chocolate soldier the one that is a bit larger than the others and has more color to it in your second picture? I really like that one. I've done a couple of fish bowl sized terrariums that I am enjoying. I put some little episcia stolons in them and they are really starting to grow good in there. I need to take more pictures and keep track of the progress.

Time to get outside and do more planting now that the sun has gone down some.
~Brenda

Honestly, Brenda, that's either Chocolate Soldier or Gray Lady. I knocked a tray over a while back, and those two Episcias were in it. Naturally, the tags, soil, and plants went all over the floor, so I can't be positive which that one is. I *think* it's Chocolate Soldier, but won't know for sure til it blooms. If I'm remembering correctly, Chocolate Soldier has orange blooms and Gray Lady has red.

Our local nursery had a huge aquarium out front the last time we were there. Probably about the same size as the one you're talking about, cause I could have gotten in this one, too. LOL My husband saw me eyeballing it, and steered me toward some plants, but I eventually asked the nursery owner (a long-time friend of my husband's) about it. He said if his son didn't get it that day, like he was supposed to, I could have it. You should have seen the protest that went up from my husband!! ROFL He was adamant that we would NOT be taking that thing home! I tried to tell him how many plants would fit in there, but it was no use... I'm still going back down there soon to see if it's still there. :oP

Hey Susan! I was reading back through the thread and evidently I missed your post the first time through. Go you! That's a bunch to have already! Hope to see you around here more next week! :o)

Chocolate Soldier is pretty, Gail! I think that's the one that bloomed for me once, and it was just unbelievable how bright the bloom was! I'm anxious to see more of my Episcias bloom to see if they're all that bright.
