My croton is flowering!

Hamilton, Canada

I didn't know Crotons did flower at all indoors, I've had it for four years.. and today I look at it and two of its stems have a small thick pod with what appear to be tiny flower buds contained inside it. I can't seem to find the cable right now for my digital camera.. otherwise I'd have a pic up.

What are the chances it'll seed?

Hi Dalar, I cant tell without a pic, but assume that if a floer does happen, then it aint a guarentee that the seeds will be fertile due to no male or female, ut then again, I always say, nothing lost, nothing gained, I know that the growers, always increase by tip cuttings as they take a while to get established, but maybe someone else can tell you other wise, they come from Malaysia region and grow like weeds over there, very prety weeds I may add. Hope you get more help and get lucky with your seeds, I would think in your area, the seeds will need bottom heat though to germinate. Good Luck, WeeNel.

I noticed that the info in Plant Files says they bloom repeatedly! I have been in Florida for 40 years where Croton's are Everywhere planted in the landscape and I've never seen one bloom. Or, maybe the blooms are so inconspicuous that I just haven't noticed. Dalar, I sure hope you find the cable for your camera .... would love to see a picture of one in bloom!
