Victor, I love those last two photos. What beautiful combinations.
June flowers Are Busting Out All Over - page 2
Thanks Harper.
Victor, very beautiful.
Pixie, Pretty phlox, I have adonis and orange perfection, does the pink variety bloom earlier?
Woke up to a beautiful sunrise this morning!! But does that saying hold true - "red sky in the morning, sailors take warning"!! And the one that goes with it - "red sun at night, sailors delight"!! This is the way my mother predicted the weather. Well anyway, I hope it doesn't rain cause I have a lot of work to do outside during my grandson's nap. I envy you guys that can spend all day working in the garden. Eleanor
yeah, but only on the weekends Eleanor... :(
Wait, who gets to spend all day working in the garden? Not me. I wish. That would be wonderful!!
That's three of us who don't get to spend as much time as we want in the garden!! This slope of sedum and rocks (hiding under the sedum) was destroyed when I had some trees taken down on Tuesday. The thing that they used to take the branches and tree trunks out of the backyard ran up onto the slope. Which I could have seen them in bloom first - it would have been a sea of yellow. :-( Eleanor
Oh what a bummer! Sorry to hear that Eleanor. Did they do this without your permission??
That is a bummer!
No they had my permission to go through that area, I just didn't realize they were going to be driving over the slope. It really couldn't be helped when you're backing up a machine holding a trunk of a tree and trying not to hit our houses. That was the best area for them to drive through where the least amount of damage would be done to my neighbor's lawn. My neighbor and I both had trees removed at the same time and also shared a tree. She was kind enough to let them use that strip of lawn for access. (I just had a new lawn put in a year ago) We'll get it repaired and replanted. The good thing (I think) about sedums is they spread QUICKLY. Eleanor
Condolences on your sedum.
Eleanor I'm sure there are some who envy the time you have with your grandson. Perhaps you'll have the best of both worlds, and your little guy will grow to garden with you. Have a great day.
Dave - thank you for your condolences. It was an awful way to go - squashed under all of that weight and ripped to shreds and even right out of the ground by tree branches being dragged over them. When it gets light out I'll take a photo of their remains - very gory!! not LOL I guess you could say they were SOL!! Eleanor
daiseycat - you're right of course. He is high maintenance and I wish his mother wasn't gone for twelve hour days. Right now she is traveling for her job and I keep all night - his father is working the night shift this week. I will admit I was just feeling sorry for myself. Eleanor
P.S. photo is kind of blurry as he was moving pretty fast, but I liked this photo of him.
Eleanor he is adorable. What a face. He looks like just the right mix of thinker and imp. Enjoy. :)
Looks like it needs some yellow tape around it. Maybe a white chalk outline too! Good luck with the fix-up. Every gardening 'tragedy' presents a new opportunity.
Very funny Victor!! Grammy, have you picked out a stone?
There's enough stones on the slope already - don't need a special one!! I could just write RIP on one of them. We're going to have the guy who put in our new lawn come and help us out. We're going to fill in the area more where it dips down between the two houses so the slope won't be so steep. As Victor says every gardening tragedy presents a new opportunity. With topsoil in there instead of rock I can plant real flowers instead of sedum. My neighbor has always wanted grass on her side instead of moss and with more sun in the area and topsoil it will probably now grow!! Eleanor
I like the RIP idea!
