Never heard of a travelers palm, so do you have a pic of one, if a real palm, the seeds take ages to germinate, sometimes even years depending on which palm it is, Belize is hot tropical humid climate, so maybe that will give a hint as to how to germinate, like humid damp shaded soil, but then maybe full sun with some humidity, sorry but without further info, it is hard to even guess. pmr9000 - the Traveler's Palm is a beautiful and fascinating tree - it got its name because water will pool in the base of the notched fronds and you can drink it. They spread out fan-shaped and are really very lovely. Anyway - I don't know about the seeds. I would suggest you post your question on the Palms & Cycads Forum, if you can....there are some great experts that hang out there, who would be happy to give you tons of info. If you can't get on - D-mail me and I'll see if I can figure something else out.

The travelers palm is related to banana.....it is not a palm but palm like- it is Ravanala Madagascariensis...treat as you would a banana
they look like the giant strelizia but more formal.Very nice thing,I would just put it in a pot and a tiny bit of mulch over the surface ...and place the pot in a warm shade situation...I germinate real palm seeds in some damp spagnum moss wrapped in clingwrap...place in warm shade...and it works very well...you could try that if you prefer but now you have the name you can look it up...good luck :)
