I have a good one from yesterday!
At work, I sit on one of those big exercise balls. The Chiropractor recommended it so I wouldn't lean, etc. Anyway, I've had it for a couple of years and have gotten really used to it. I joke that I can always say "I'm on the ball"!
So my boss comes over to my cube yesterday to chat and we're talking about his weekend trip to Myrtle Beach and all of a sudden - POP goes the ball and I fall flat on my a** on the hard floor! (I am laughing as I type this!!!) My boss was so stunned all he could say was "oh my goodness" and stare at me while I laughed my now sore a** off! Of course, the "explosion" was heard all over the floor so everyone came running over and could not believe my ball popped!
So unfortunately, I am no longer "on the ball". Now I'm just like everyone else, a chair sitter, leaning all over my desk!! Depending on how I look at it, this could be in either the Best or Worst category
Another BEST for yesterday: My DS's baseball team one their playoff game so they head to the chamionship on Sat. As it stands right now, they will all get trophies even for 2nd place! We've got to beat the 1st place 'Dodgers'!
Learned: Laughing at yourself is the best medicine!
Best Thing/Worse Thing and What did I learn today? Part 5
Ggirl-sorry to hear about your ball bursting, bet that hurt, ouch
Betty, here's my guesses-you mentioned dogs so I'm thinking: Standing near trees repeatedly for brief amounts of time?
from the photo: did dishes? made phone calls?
Painted?
That's all I got
...lol
ok...it's noon hour..I'll tell you how I spent my day at work...
First I gave much thought to all you lovely ladies/guys but DG names/real names, likes, dislikes, hurts, children, pets, DH's all get muddled..maybe it's just me...getting older..soon to be 60 LOL...so, it came to me, I always like to know my friends in depth so I got out a binder/ paper and labelled each sheet with your name and filed them alphabetically...then I went back to our first postings and read each one and as you made comments on family/friends/worries/pets/likes/dislikes I made note of them...so I can specifically look at a page and really get to know you...NOT STALKING you guys, just find you all so very kind, interesting etc.
Now how's that for a days work?????
Wow, now that's the kind of dedication only a true friend would devote. Now I know mine will be the weirdest entry! I'll help a little, I'm 29, not married, have a 6 year old DD and we live with her dad-we've been together 8 years (I have committment issues, lol). We have 2 cats, Skillet and Alice Cooper. Both my parents are still married, they're old hippies.
Likes: too many to list, but obviously people, talking, and attention ..lol
Dislikes: Uptight people, rules, waiting, having to remember stuff, and body hair. All I can think of now..lol
LOL/LOL now I'll really have an entry full of info...you must think I'm nuts..but I find I kept going back to older posts because I didn't want to post incorrectly soooo I felt this was my option...you are a sweetheart for helping me out...
Hi-Tropicanna, Nice to meet ya, from your other post I think your adorable
-
Betty, You are so cute! Here i wondered how you remembered eveything. I have a hard time with just a couple of posts-Why I miss alot probably.
Well,I I am 45-got 2D's and 1 S and my DH. We have a Cocketeil (bird)named Feathers, she is yellow with an orange cheek...and Runs the house-LOL
I was going to guess that you were able to stay up to see your beautiful chandelier all lit up! Oh and also wanted to mention Old saying What goes around comes around...You spread so much love to others so in return they are spreading their love to you-What a great gift and nice suprise from your friends, see...Been meaning to comment on that post-but you know me always a day or two behind.
Have fun filling your pages-
Judy
Judy, that's sweet! I was actually thinkng about buying some birds to have as an accent for my tropical gardens, thought it might get cold at night for them, though. My folks went through a cockatiel raising phase--that's when I learned cats and birds don't mix.lol
So Betty, what's your profile?
Betty our queen. Your the bomb girlfriend. Results are in. Suspicious abnormal mass, may be post operative breast reduction settling. The verdict, off to see a sugeon for a biopsy I imagine, next Tues.
Thanks Liz about my puppies.
Down under I do not know the story so if you have link or a post where your whole story, funeral and all starts,I will read it and pray for you anyway.
Your dogs name is a roll. It reminds me of the commercial, MR. Barky Von SHnauzer. It is probably a US only commercial for a pet place. lol
Trop I agree on the body hair. It is so hard to comment on this thread to each person and if I don`t i feel guilty. forgive me if I miss someone here and there.
LOL Tropicanna then you didn't get big enough birds! I grew up with a parrot who put the fear of god into all our animals.
Betty my bio is short..I'm 40 been married to my DH for 8 years going on 9 this Sept & Dec (we had 2 weddings) he's from Chile we have one DD who just happens to be four legged named Zapita. I'm a stay at home bum..*coughcough* I mean Mom, DH is a Environmental Eng. and we live in SE Texas.
I like to cook, read trashy paranormal romance and grow tomatoes and I collect Santa's, stuffed gorillas and fusion glass.
sounds good Araness. Me and DH(aka Greg) have just had our 7th anniversary and we met 7 months earlier. I have a dd, almost 22 and a ds, just turned 18 and graduated. H has a dd that just graduated too. We are empty nesters for the most part. Kids do not like my little town with gas so high so DD just has stuff at my house and lives mostly with XH who is from Tecate Mx, we were married 15 years, he cheated. (the end of that chapter)
I am like Aunt B, I like real relationships and am an open book, I love real people, faults and all to see, then you get no surprises. Love to ride our motorcycles and take short trips to refresh the mind, love Nascar, a great landscape and a cute homey home. Love God and friends are very important to me. that is the basic me.
Everyone...you just can't imagine loosing your password..been trying to get on for oh so long today...lol...tried every nickname/password I could till it clicked on....
You are all so very kind..love nickname you gave me Hellnzn11..Aunt B, so very mayberry..that's probably how I got to live in such a wonderful, friendly neighborhood...just wish I had an 'Andy' coming home for supper....
Just look at the information I get to add to my book of friends...it will be so much fun..better win that 40 million tomorrow night so I can arrange a big RU here and have you all flown in..now wouldn't that be something...I'll p.u. a ticket for that purpose only, to bring you all here and fix all your bo-bo's....hmmmmm
I've got comments for you all but saving them for when I get home...
when I couldn't talk with all of you this aft. I decided to surf the web..want to purchase new little car for myself..nothing big..sooooo in love with the smart car, but don't think it's practical..only sits 2, hardly an area for transporting things...if it was a 2nd car I wouldn't hesitate for a sec...have to keep thinking about it...
here's what it looks like:
Any ideas on other small makes that have a little pizzaz for this old gal....
http://www.smart.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/WFS/mpc-uk-content-Site/-/-/-/SVCPresentationPipeline-Start?Page=issite://mpc-uk-Site/mpc-uk.com/RootFolder/smart/home.page
I saw it recently, it is cute and economical on gas, but what does it cost? (Is that what you did yesterday that we are supposed to guess?) I think the Priaz is cute and a little more room or the Honda alternative energy efficient car too. You need room for safety reasons in my oppinion. Those new Toyota mini cars are cute and are good but I don`t know how much room they have. Check Road and track or track and driver to see the safety ratings of small eco cars first please AB.
basic price $16,900 and top of the line around $22,900...it's a diesel
who makes the priaz...I'll check Toyota mini cars...
Maybe a couple posts prior to this one is where I gave my answer...learning more about you dear friends...
Toyota makes the Prius, base price here in the US is around 22,000 but we get a 2,000 tax credit. The MPG is around 55 for city/highway.
hi there,
just popped in before i get ready for the funeral....
I dont know how to do that hyoerlink thing for you hellnzn11 so briefly, my nephew took his own life last week. we dont know why. He was only 24 and has a little baby. thankyou for your prayers and support.
My bio? well i am 48 (49 in july). I am married for the second time ( first husband cheated not too uncommon is it?) I am now married to the most wonderful man who is 18 years my junior, we have been together for 7 years. He is from the USA. I have four children from my first marriage and now two grandchildren. I have one dog as you know Leopold Von Lickenpuppy which is a cavalier.shitzu and he is about 16 weeks old now.
I live in a seaside suburb in melbourne. I do jewellry making, you know beading and the like and like to write. Favorite food is chocolate.... chocolate is a food group right? lol though i havnt had any in some time.....I grow ferns and orchids mostly.
I have a new toyota yaris. now i dont know if they are called the same in the USA. It cost 14,000.00 australian dollars and is a 1.5 engine which is really zippy! It has amazing milage being a little car and costs me $40 per fortnight to run. It looks small on the outside but is really really roomy on the inside. Its height is such that you just slide your legs out and dont have to make any effort at all to get in and out. a lot of small cars are low to the ground and i found them difficult to get in and out of. Both the toyota echo and yaris are excellent. The three door which i have enalbles you to fold the rear seat down so it turns into a wagon for carrying things. it is amazing how much room there is. Its the second toyota i have had and iwould buy it again.
its red, as you know, red cars go faster! heh
hope that helps.
You know, the smart cars out here were like 52,000.00 when they first came out? isnt that just terrible. its all the rage at the moment for australians to bring in big american cars. its a boom right now. so hubby is happy seeing a little something from home driving around.
well, its almost 9am and i need to bake some scones ( i think yu guys call them biscuits) i belive you use them for gravy whereas we use them in the english way, as devonshire tea. scones, jam, cream.
chat later.
hugs xx
Wonder, I make scones like you do. No gravy for me, just some lovely jam or marmelade, on a basic currant scone recipe.
Betty, you'd better add several pages in your book for me. You'll be surprised at all I have done and can do that have been posted here since March 2001. I'll be 67 this year, never married although I raised 5 half brothers and sisters, career woman in many fields.
Wow wow wee , do I have some catching up to do..just got in, went shopping..couldn't resist solar globes which change colors to put in pond..was envious of I believe Ves522 who has little fishies in hers..so I went out Sat. and bought 6..couldn't imagine $3.98 each..think they are still alive although I don't see them, deepest end almost 5 ft. so guess they are hiding there..was going to get water lettuce but was told it will kill my pump..so, know fishies need shade so thought these might be ok...
Bingo tonight, so will be back on after 9 to gab with you lovely ladies...you just don't know how much I think and appreciate each and every one of you in my life...another thing to be thankful to the Lord for...back later...
Go kick some butt and take some bingo names! Win the big bucks!
All, Worst thing and best thing? I wouldn't normally intercede here, but the DW came home from work last nite and told me about a tiny puppy trying to scramble accross 3 lanes of early morning traffic.
She stopped right in front of the puppy, who turned around and headed back accross the other 2 lanes. Fortunately, another driver, who was in the middle lane came to a halt and actually twisted his pick-up truck so that it blocked the other 2 lanes. Between the wife and the pick-up, 3 lanes of morning rush hour traffic came to a halt.
The wife, who was on her way to work at 7:30AM, jumped out of her car and went after the puppy. He was so fast that the wife had to kick off her lo-heel shoes in the middle of the street in order to catch up with the little critter.
When she caught up with the puppy and grabbed it up, the little fartblossom tried its best to chew off her wrists. The guy who had blocked 2 lanes of traffic then came up and offered to help. The little tasmanian devil was, all the time, trying its best to bite somebody.
The wife and the good samaritan decided that it might be best for the pick-up guy to take the little killer with him.
As it turned out, the little devil was a pit bull puppy. Between the 2 of them, the wife and the pick-up guy saved a puppy's life, while 1/2 mile of cussing, backed up traffic fumed.
The pick-up guy said he would take the puppy to a local vet's office, where he assured the wife that his good friend, the vet, would take care of the puppy.
Don't have any more to add. Hope for the best, even tho it is a pit bull.
more to do with the responsibility of the owner than the dog. That said, that's why I have cats..lol

Each circumstance unique, Those who remain wonder, feel lost, amazed in a gaze., We only have our Hope in our Faith... and I can vouch for me it works. May God hold you in his arms, in the days to come. By the way...I'ld love to read your childrens book. I wonder if you do art too?

Did I say I was 44? Nutrasweet alzheimers is killing me. Oh I love when people put themselves out to rescue an animal or a victim in waiting of any kind.
Sorry about your nephew how is your family taking it(parents of the nephew)? prayers for all of you. Too young to just give up. Oh ya the yaris is so cute, good to know about all the room and cheaper than priuz

Oh Betty your life is far from dull?It is so full of friends, family your hobbies and tons of other things!
My bio! This should be interesting as I have never done this before. Not interesting for you guys but to myself!
Married almost 34 years. First 10 were really rough. But I stuck it out. We are on an even level in our life now. Or boring as some would say. We have one son who will be 30 this year. No grandkids. Have an 8 month old puppy who keeps us entertained. We have lived here for 32 years. Just love where we live. I do crafts and garden. Love to read trashy novels when I can. Love animals. DG is my second home. I'm sorry to say the people here are more available then my family. Part my fault. Homebody! Well now I am rambling!
Worst thing yesterday: Was really hot.
Best thing:::: That fish was back. I don't know where it went for 2 days but I swear it was not in the pond! There are not that many places where it can hide.
What did I learn! I have a Houdini fish!
Betty I think our hard water is harder on the pumps then the plants. We have replaced ours twice now. But for me it is well worth the expense.
I gotta go and get ready for a long day at work. Again it is truck day and we are also working one short again. At least supper is made and I don't have to do that when I get home tonight.
You all have the type of day you need and enjoy it!
Before I begin my day thought I'd share an award my sister got for the new showdog she's showing..her main dog 'keluk' I believe is champion (have to ask her to confirm what championship) know he was in the big dog show in NY that they have every year..dogs come from all over the world...we had a mild winter and she much of her coat and did not do well because of it...
She breeds and sends dogs all over USA..new litter is this week...
here's the photo
http://webhome.idirect.com/~keluk/kiakbpis1.jpg
Ohh a Samoyed! Isn't she a beauty you call it a he and a she but I think it's a she isn't it? Humm I wonder if the DH would kill me if I snuck one of those in the house? Can you imagine the shedding? OMG at the flying fur!
Mega shedding Araness...they are miniature American Eskimo's ...she has 5 of her own and she thinks they are humans...nothing like her dogs..she turned 55 and lives for them...she also is President of a rescue unit where people for some reason or other do not want the dogs (this type of breed) and she finds them a home..very active to say the least..can never visit because the animals need her...but that's ok .. we spend time each day gabbing on msn...
lol...I know how she feels, if my baby can't go I second think about going anyplace! DH wants to go to Scotland next year and I'm just not sure cause who would take care of the baby???
Don't tell them I called them a Samoyed I'd hate to have hurt feelings *G* you'll have to get baby pictures I bet they look like little bears.
Here's the "Boss" telling me it's time to get off my duff and get ready for Weight Watcher's meeting
Ready for my post....
Judy...LOL..tried to stay up till dark so I could take photo's of all the mini-lights and chandelier..played bingo from 8 to 9 and then put head down for one sec..and that was it..I'd do better when I get up at 4:45am to take photo's then...
Liz..from your photo, it looks like you have a labradoodle as well? I'm going to show my darling DIL the photo..they were just saying over the weekend that they hoped 'Sophie' wouldn't take liking to the pool ...they'll soon have her out in the boat and that will give her a clue I'm sure that labs love water!!!! Have you picked out colors for the house yet? Do you enjoy bold colors or soft pastels...
Sher...missing you but know you have so many things to do this week prior to Sunday memorial service (that's what we call them) and family arriving..know that you are in all our thoughts and prayers and look forward to your next post...please don't overdo..am sure your loving family will be there to offer support...
Laura..how did you make out yesterday with family and the stress of the funeral..hoping today you can rest and put yourself back together..we never know why these things happen...am sure he thought he had no alternative and that in his own way was making it easier on everyone...will pray for him and family that remains...
Bluekat...how many tomato plants do you have..you live on a farm - correct? are they for commercial use..remember DH getting me to take the 'sucker's off the plants so they could gain more strength..we (more he) would do down hundreds of jars for the winter....my mouth is just watering..love bacon and tomato sandwiches.maybe I'll have one for lunch...
Liz...maybe it's mting time for the duckies..can't believe that here just down the street in the main section of the city several families of Canada Geese waddle the main roads...amazing that they don't get themselves flattened..everyone is so careful to let them waddle across main intersection ....all love wildlife I'm sure!!! their babies which were yellow are now fluffy brown...soon to be feathers...
Ves...did you find your fish this morning..perhaps someone went a fishing??? did get 6 fish over the weekend..can't see them so they must be in darkest area..none are floating at this time..they had a guarantee for 1 week...bought flakes for them for food but understand it should have been pebbles...guess it's a learning process..but did buy them floating lighting which has a skirt underneath so maybe that will offer shade...
Gardengirl..I am so laughing at your expense...bet boss had lots of stories to tell other staff members and those at home..hope you did not hurt yourself though...
Tropicanna...the dishes you see in photo are not real dishes..they are my cannister set, one is plates, other is bowls and other cups..makes for a nice set ...glad you found some laughter in your day yesterday..
Dawn..how is it going today...hope you feel more relaxed...won't be long that they'll give you a clean bill of health...as for feeling guilty in not posting to everyone, DON'T...not everybody has jobs that they sit and play all day lol...some feel chatty at times and have the time..we're just glad that you join us when possible..we'd miss you....
Araness..you'll have to d-mail me your address so I can send you one of my Victorian Santa's that I paint..would be my pleasure...I'm a Christmas freek..hubby used to say, if your name's in the telephone book then I'm sure you get a Christmas gift..and he wasn't far wrong...Fusion Glass, how exciting, that's the in thing here..the studio where I purchase stained glass materials offer many courses re fusion glass and jewelry..always want to take one (have kilns that I fire at Baxter Hall) but where do I find the time, maybe this fall...any photo's of your art work? Would love to see some...thanks for info on vehicles...I so do want a 'smartcar' but I have taken our the Yaris several times on a test run and it's great...so, must shortly make up my mind..youngest son Jeff is coming up this weekend so maybe he'll help me decide...doubt it though - it's always 'mom, you know what you want, who are we to help you decide' just want to strangle him..would like their input...
Darius...so pleased as all the others are to see you 'posting'...now don't you be over doing it..take it easy so that you heal properly..we were worried about you....
blmlb - so glad you joined us..we are such a lovely bunch of loving/caring and SPECIAL people...if you want true friendship, then this thread is for you!
your wife is certainly a 'hero'...she is lucky though, some of those 'pitbulls' can be killers...Hopefully they'll find good home for it...just think...somebody might offer a reward for saving it's life...wouldn't that be something!!!! Did laugh though at your description of DW taking her heal off so she could run faster!!! Must have been a site!
Aranass...baby is soooooo 'cute' look at the ribbon in the hair...they do become human friends don't they...
Many of you have shared your bio's...now do you want my compact version or the book????? lol
whichever is more convenient, I'm easy to get along with..lol
I`ll take your own thread devoted entirely to your life. It is all about B day today. Lets have any version you are inclined to give as i know a lot of little things but don`t know where they all fit in. Are you a commercial artist, like gallery showings etc. if not you could be.
Vess Your Houdini fish is a good thing because the alternative was not good. Your life sounds not dull but comfortable. When I was younger i thought that was bad but as I get older, it is nice to see comfort as a goal, not something to avoid.
Araness I think your dog would not do well in a kennel or all alone so if she can`t go to a family member`s house you better get a good caretaker and get her a dog friend so she doesn`t go nutts while you are gone.
Hi-Betty, I just had to giggle...I thought 8 or 9 was way too late for you.
Some day you'll get to see that chandelier all lit up.
As for your Bio-I would love to know you in any version you want to tell.
Would you mind if i print your picture for my wall? I would love for you to be next to my Carol(s). Judy
Hellz I agree I couldn't ever leave her in a kennel...she's never been left with a stranger and only stayed with her grandparents once for two days when my Mom was still alive. She travels with us and loves hotels, we a place we stay in houston that the concierge is this very large French gentleman who adores her..they give kisses "in the French style" as he say...*lol*
Betty I'd love to have one of your Santa's, my collection means very much to me because it was once my Mother's, and I've just added to it. I have so much fun during the holiday's taking each one out and remembering where and who it came from. For several years after her death it was a bittersweet thing but now I can do it with mostly joy as I remember how much she truly enjoyed the holiday and passed that on to my sister and I. LOL my DH makes the joke that you could land planes in our front yard because on the lights...and he's not far off.
As far as the fusion glass, I don't do any of my own just collect others works. I'm as untalented as a stump when it comes to anything other than cooking. Can't sew, draw, paint, etc always wanted to be blessed with talent but I musta been running my mouth as usual and missed what lines I was pose to be in to get some *G*
Part 1
Life and Time of Betty
I'll probably end up rambling on..
Mother (16) and Father (18) married in '47..I was born March 2, 1948 (3 months after my maternal grandmother died in her late 30's from brain anarysm (?) Wartime played a toll on workforce..my maternal grandfather/grandmother worked on Great Lakes freighters as cook so when grandma died my grandfather hired mom and dad as substitutes...now here was me 6 months old so my paternal grandparents decided they would look after me for the short period of time mom/dad would be away...grandparents had 8 children, all except the youngest Irene (14 or 15) lived away from home...as you can imagine I was spoilt, spoilt by this couple..I had a severe case of asthma and required getted needles from the neighbor who was a nurse so quite sickly at that age....
Mom and Dad worked on the ships for nearly 2 years...decided to quit when she became pregnant again..found jobs in Toronto (100 miles from Penetanguishene)..Now was time to take me back to the city to live as a family...I was so distraught and became very ill soooo they brought me back to grandparents temporarily until they could visit and I'd understand they were my parents...So now Bernie is born, they'd visit, take me to the city for weekends, I'd get to the city and cry so much, back to the country I'd go..this went on for several years...I now had a brother and a sister...I'd visit for a few days and when I called them mom/dad the two little children would shush me away and say that it was their mom and dad...I'd not stay more than a couple of days...again time went by and they had 3 children who would never accept me as a sister...
Now during my stay with grandparents, Irene became my real sister, Alda an older daughter lived next door with Linda and Larry their children we were maybe 8 years younger than I - we all became very close...my grandparents other children also had children close to my age, all resented me because of the love I had from grandparents, understandable to some point as their children didn't get same treatment...so, I'd be taken along with grandparents to social functions they attended (remember they were in their 50's and shortly to retire)..I learnt to sew, make quilts, quilt at quilting bees, mostly always adult activities..would even substitute as a card player as I grew older because some DH or DW passed away, sooo I'd be the fill in..always cherished...
Thinking back now, even though I totally understand why I was with grandparents I still had feelings of abandonment...I always remembered that I never truly fit in with either family..I am friends with 2 brothers - 1 sister but have more of a sisterly love for 3 cousins and 2 aunts...)
At 16 I took on a job with Canadian General Electric as my mom was employed for about 15 yrs at same firm..needed summer students...were the highest paying company in Canada at that time, so I did not want to return to school as I was making what teachers would have been making without the education..they couldn't talk me out of it so I stayed on as full time employee....
At 17 I met the man of my dreams..he was 22 - tall, goodlooking and at the time I was quite a knock-out (being modest)...we married 6 months after meeting...
As Roger was 22 and had many married friends with children how I wanted one...became pregnant shortly after we married, became extremely ill and spent 6 months in the hospital..but during that time they took the baby from me as I wouldn't have been able to survice the pregnancy...it was a girl! sooo the more we visited friends/family with children the more even though the doctor said absolutely NO CHILDREN I wanted one very badly...Roger would religiously watch me take birth control pills each day ..but what he did not know is that when I picked them up at pharmacy I changed them for sacryne tablets..about same size...it took about another couple of years of taking (sugar) that I became pregnant...back in the hospital at 2 months pregnant to the day Greg was born fighting for my life most of the time...Greg was born 1969 - New Years Day...if that wasn't enought I wanted a girl, was going to have a girl I just knew it...so got pregnant almost before I got out of hospital from having Greg lol...to the doctor's amazement, I wasn't sick 1 day so Jeff was born Dec. 8, 1969 both born in 1969...now I should have been satisfied with the 2 boys, but Jeff's pregnancy was so easy that I was sure I could have my little girl..got pregnant immediately and about the 4th month baby had to be taken (a girl) ...Roger and doctor made the decision that they would tie my tubes so no more chances of pregnancy ... I wasn't a happy camper...but, doctor told Roger that in not so many more weeks I'd be dead and he's be raising the two boys...
So, now I have 2 boys, stay at home mom - we lived in the city..and I decided to join the workforce..American Express was just bringing their services to Canada..new high tech division called "Space Bank" a cardholder could virtually call - give their amex number and rooms/cars/ needs would all be booked by 'Space Bank'
They were searching for a bilingual employee...I was hired as one of the first 3 Canadians hired in Canada...My boss Alan Franklin was from New York city...the company grew in leaps and bounds and before you knew it I was travelling to Phoenix, Memphis (main branches)... Within 1 month of news of expansion I was to hire over 200 people..buildings were not even built and completed when they were hired..remember teaching in the parking lot with everyone sitting on the grass...who would know that one of the people I hired was call Betty Darruwala who is now CEO of Amex Canada...many went on to high positions...I also at this time hired as many as 20 relatives, Paul my BIL that I work for, my SIL here that I travel with were hired and stayed many years...
I was offered several positions in high authority only to turn them down...with 2 small boys and a husband..travelling was out of the question....(so my DH said) lol..but he was right..so we ended up moving to Oshawa and lived there for about 5 years and purchased a cottage...couldn't take staying home all the time so one of my SIL's father owned a Mineralogist Firm, he travelled all over the world and I worked in the office..enjoyed it. But then dear hubby thought it would be a great idea to move north ...tear down cottage and build a home...he would continue to travel to oshawa for work..quieter but more relaxed atmoshere..so off we went...
Well it's time for me to leave for the day, will be on later tonight..who knows, depends on schedule, just might give you a part 2
Araness..will post a photo of the Victorian Santa's I cut and paint..you can tell me what color you like...it will be at your house by Nov.
