I read somewhere that you can cage your cucumber to prevent them from producing vines all over your garden, will this work for zuchinni also?
zuchinni & cucumbers cages
Most zucchinis are in bush form, so any effects of a cage are limited. Works good for any vining plant.
Cukes also grow well on a trellis or fence. As far as larger vines (squash, pumpkins etc) they will outgrow a cage quickly and still be all over.
And if you put them on a trellis/fence you will have to sling any larger fruit that starts to form to keep the fruit from pulling down the whole vine.
I have both planted in 25 gallon half barrels. The squash go free and over the edge and the cucs are sitting under an old laundry rack. I gently tie them to different areas on the rack and they are doing great.
