Gardeners from Phoenix?

Mesa, AZ(Zone 9b)

Since the South West gardening forum has changed to subscribers only, I'm wondering if anyone else here in the beginners forum is from Phoenix.

Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

I'm a refugee from the SW Forum too!

but not in AZ

Are you guys going to become members? We miss you already!! It is a real bummer they closed all of the forums to non-members. I am on a search for that Angel fund everyone says exsists so I can make a donation for people who can't afford the membership fee. In my mind, the subscription is worth it but it wasn't right to close the forums without a say from each group! Hope to see you there soon!

I have had a forum on my website for a while. I had it closed for about a year because I had trouble with spam robots posting advertisements, but when they closed the forums here it inspired me to work on it again. I now have registration and the ability to upload images, so you are welcome to come visit if you like :) The site is phoenixtropicals, you just have to add the w's to the front and a com to the end to find it.

Oh, you are such an enabler!!! I found your site and am going to have to work on DH to buy and grow some of the plants you have listed!!!
Site is bookmarked, of course! LOL!

Christina, please do consider helping with your generosity - but I'm not needing the funds, maybe someone else can use a free membership. I may still join, but honestly, the information/help gained here can be found elsewhere. I WILL miss the PEOPLE though!

Hi All,
I was just getting started - my first post and had just registered (3 days) when I was locked out :(. It shocked me because I wasn't able to read the replies to my only post so I emailed the powers that be and their response was for me to pay $5 for 2 mos or the yearly fee. I just wish they would have given me a little warning when I registered that it would be "pay only" in 3 days!

I took a peek today at the Southwest Gardening site to see if anyone was mentioning the change and I saw AZRobin's
post but wasn't able to read the responses. But it gave me the info to come here. I sure hope you Arizonan's will
come to this freebie forum as I need Arizona specific help and Arizona gardening buddies :) as I am a So. CA transplant.

Thanks for listening,
Marlene

Marlene, we will do what we can to help! I am not very knowledgable having just started but will be sure to forward any of your questions to the SW group and have at least one of them get back to you! As for some of the responses from the group concerning the locking of the forum, none of them are too happy about the short notice! We are all in agreeance of sorts that the $20 a year is more than worth every penny. A couple of us have posted to the thread in Dave's section letting them know that even though we all are happy to subscribe we are none too happy about losing some of our non-subscribing friends with no notice to our forum. As BSavage said, most of us putter happily around the SW forum and don't pay much attention to the others so there was no notice about the cut-off.

I would really recommend subscribing! The SW group is one of the best and someone always has an answer to whatever question you can think of!

Best of luck and hope to see you sticking around!!!
