I'm pretty new at gardening. I planted this one last year, and was amazed when the flowers started to appear a few days ago. I'd like to get more, but I'm don't know what it is. Thanks to anyone who can help me.

Hi I think they may be Japanese windflowers....a beautiful thing ...but can be a little invasive in the wrong place....beautiful whatever it is

I'll probably forget to come back here, and I can't see the small photo so well, but I wonder if the lovely purple blooms aren't a clematis. Do you see how it seems to be climbing up the fence? Can't say for sure, but I do understand why you'd want more!

I agree, I think it looks like a Clematis. I don't grow them though so I have no idea which one.

I forgot to say that if it has ferny sort of foliage it most likely be Japanese Windflowers......however if it wants to climb ..I would agree with the other folk .....very pretty ;-)

If they grew in the tropics, I would grow em. They are a well behaved vine.

chrissy100, both clematis and windflowers are Ranunculaceae, they have many things in common, including the shape of their flowers.

in Ozz- they grow like triffids....very pretty triffids.....growing over a whole backyard in the Summer......Ours seem to be a much deeper blue....guess there are many different kinds....happy gardening ;-)

Thank you! I followed the link and saw that my plant does look like the clematis. I just resized the picture to see if that helps.

No doubt about it... definitely clematis. If you want more, they come in tons of colours and flower types.
