what is this plant?

Matthews, NC

Hi,
I have these growing in my garden and I know I planted them years ago but I have no idea what they are now. They die down in winter and come back up every spring. They are just now blooming and they have mulitplied so I have given some away. Does anyone know what they are? Do they come in any other colors?
thanks so much,
Denise

These flowers are light purple in color. I thought Shasta daisys were white?

Looks like a Stoke's Aster

Sorry everyone ...blame it on the wrong nickname...it is called Stokes Aster.....and you are still lucky to have it! You can devide them in the Autumn (fall) and they self seed all over the place. As far as I know they only come in purple...but that could be wrong.

Wow, you all are great! I just googled Stokes Aster and that looks like it! I have had a vase on my desk with some of the flowers in it and no one all day coming in and out had any idea what the flowers were called.
I did find a page with 'Mary Gregory' Stokes Aster and they are yellow.
Thanks so much,
Denise
