Pink Mexican Primrose

Hazelwood, MO

What should I do when the blooming is done with my Pink Mexican Primrose?

Ayrshire Scotland, United Kingdom

Hi Sammad214, sorry to say that I am unsure what primsose you actually have as this is a huge family covering a wide range of different types,
Do you have a pic you could send in so that I or others may be able to give more informative care for your plant, but for now, as a rule, you would deadhead the flowers and stems, to help promote more flowering, as to what to do after the flowering season passes, will depend on which type strain the mexican primrose comes from, and if infact it is a true primrose, localy some people call a plant a primerose, because it looks, flowers and behaves as this, when it turns out to be from the Streptocarpus family and need a slightly different regime, but would still go ahead and deadhead these also, sorry I cant be of more help right now as some more info from you about the plant, leaf, shape of flower etc, would throw more light on this, good luck, WeeNel

Is it maybe an Oenothera? Oenothera speciosa is pink and has the common name of Mexican Evening Primrose. It can tend to be somewhat invasive and has quite a few negative comments about it in Plant Files so you may want to be careful with it if that's what you have. I'd read through the comments posted by people in your area and then decide for yourself whether you still want it or not.

I have a different sort of Oenothera and it will bloom over again even if I don't deadhead, so I'm not sure if it's really necessary for these plants or not.
