I have this planted in one of my gardens in St. Louis, MO. I got it from a friend of friend who lives in Arkansas. My friend said that is was some kind of ground cover, but neither of us can find the name of it. It is about 12 inches high and grows on an individual stem with a single flower at the top. But it has more than doubled in size/number of plants since I planted it last spring.
Please help.
Yellow Flowering Ground Cover
My guess would be some sort of of Oenothera but it's hard to be sure since the flowers aren't open. Take a look at this link and see if you think your flowers look like this when they're open

If that's similar but not exactly it, there are a bunch of different Oenothera's, take a look through here and see if you think there's one that looks more like yours.

Looks like a cultivar of Salvia coccinea.
Here's one called 'Coral Nymph', yours may be redder than this but you can at least see the similarity in flowers/leaves

And here's 'Bicolor' which is red and white, although the pic here looks like it has a lot more white on it than yours does.

If you don't think one of these is exactly right, there are undoubtedly other cultivars of S. coccinea that don't have pictures in Plant Files and that's the only place I looked.
