I would like to purchase several coffee arabica plants locally here in San Diego. Does anybody have any idea where I might find a local supplier? I plan on planting these in large pots. I have seen dwarf varieties that were kept at 4-6 ft, which is what I'm looking for. I have called about a half dozen nurseries with no luck. Thanks, Carl
Buying coffee plants in San Diego
You have really good nurseries in the San Diego/Oceanside area. The nurseries here are a big joke! However, if you've called them and they don't carry it, you will probably have to order on-line. Before purchasing on line, be sure to check the nursery out through Garden Watchdog. I have seen the plants for sale on eBay, but try Google for additional resources.
Good luck,
Karen
Some nurseries will special order plants for you if you ask, I'd try calling a couple in your area and ask if they have them, and if they don't see if they'll order you one. If you go the mail order route though and don't mind a small plant, Logees is a great source (good rating in Watchdog).
I found a location that carries Red Oaxacan coffee trees--I'm leaving to check it out. Thanks, and yes we are very lucky here in San Diego!
Exotica nursery in vista has arabica coffee plants.
