Morning Glories 2007 #04

Baton Rouge area, LA(Zone 8b)

gardenpom, I love your pictures. Those blues are some of my favorites!

This one is a F1 hybrid I`m trying out. Typically it looks nothing like either parent and I`m thinking whaaaat??? This was a blizzard x solid with white picotee and the flower has much less blizzard and a thinner white picotee. It is showing a light blizzard(much less that one of the parents) to almost solid looking flowers. Interesting.

I can see the vary faint light blizzarding....interesting!

(Zone 5b)

beautiful pix! Question on MG seeds: How long are they viable? I went a little overboard this year and purchased many varieties, but will only end up sowing a pittance of them. They are gorgeous Japanese varieties.
Thanks- on with the show!

Here is another picture of it and this one is throwing out some with less and some with more blizzard in a completely unpredictable fashion.

Ooops, wrong picture. This is the picture of it where it shows some blizzard markings but nothing near one of the parents markings.

That's a stunning flower.

Lovely, indeed! :-) It looks like a bouquet of MG blooms! :-)

Becky, nice flowers there

birdsnblooms,
I think the seeds will be good for years.. if stored properly, in a cool dark place.. there are many ways to store seeds, but they should be alright in the pack you purchased them in and in a drawer. Most of mine this year are a couple of years old.

Karen, beautiful flowers.

This is my first year ever of growing morning glories. And I am enjoying so many different cultivars! I know most of you will chuckle when you see this photo, because it is considered "common" these days, but this is the first one I have ever seen (much less grown from seed) and I am totally blown away by the sheer size of this bloom! I know Moonflowers (Ipomoea alba) are not a big deal to most of you ..... but being my first ..... I am amazed!!! Like holy cow ..... that is one BIG MG FLOWER!!! Wowee! lol

Looks a bit like Milky Way, eh? It is from a Komeri unknown.

It sure doesn't look like a nil!

Oh well, I haven't grown Milky Way before...(think of a happy place)

Lovely morning glory's. Karen, the decolored crest one reminds me
of Blue Star of India somewhat. I'm growing some of those from seeds that were open pollinated. Also had Blue Star # 2 that Ron may
have id'd as Royal Robe. Be interesting to see what I get with the
open pollination on both of these last yr.

Thanks for the compliments. I appreciate it. :)

I`m going on vacation so what about a new thread changer? Maybe ya`ll could vote or something so more than one person doesn`t start the new Morning glories 2007 # 05 thread?

What about you Gourd?

Would you like to change the thread after about 10 more posts?

Emma told me about every 100 posts was good idea for when to flip the thread.

All lovely flowers here. I really have enjoyed all of Emmas pictures. She has a eye for detail and knows what to look for.

It is a smaller more compact type of flower and the throat expands into a dark magenta star in the folds blending in with the purple and looks a rich color. Enjoy!
