After a two year search in Dallas/Fort Worth for a Night Blooming Jasmine I finally just ordered it online and got a perfect plant. Now I don't want to ruin my perfect plant so any suggestions on how to grow it where I don't damage it?
Night Blooming Jasmine
Lucky you, I cant grow them outdoors here in UK so I am green with envey,
If I were you I would first choose a spot where I could best enjoy the perfume from your Jasmine, so that in the evening air the scent wafts about the garden, they attract lovely moths and bats for the pollen if you have any in your area and it is nice to know that when everything has gone to bed, things are able to feed at night, You should plant it in well draind soil, they dont like to sit in damp, but will still need watered, just dont sit it where the soil stays wet for a long period, it should be a long while before you want to prune it, and even then it will only need that IF it outgrows the space you want. it may take a couple of seasons to get really going, but again, it all depends on what conditions you can give it. so good luck, enjoy, I am sure your neighbours will soon be asking you to bottle the scent.

What zone are you in? I've seen some sources quote the hardiness as zone 10, other places say zone 8, there are a number of people in zones colder than 10 around here who've grown them outdoors succesfully, but I'm in 9b and mine bit the dust this past winter after a week of unusually cold weather (nighttime temps around 20F) even though it was in a somewhat sheltered location up by the house. I had one at my old house that survived a couple of our typical winters with a bit of frost and lowest temp of ~30. But if you get down closer to 20 on a regular basis in the winter it may not do well, if your temps are regularly that low or lower then I would recommend either a pot and bring it in for the winter, or at least plant it up close to the house in a place where it'll be sheltered a bit from the worst of the cold. Other than that, I would do what WeeNel says above.
