I know most people try to get rid of clover but we want clover in our lawn

which is the best kind to have. Are there seed packages for it?

You'd probably want white clover, as it's low-growing and mows well.

Try arranging a seed trade on the seed trading forum. If I notice any ripe seeds when I'm out on walks, I'll pick them up for you, but I don't know at this point if I'll find any.

I agree with you M_C...I really love clover in the lawn. Since I'm not a lawn slave, I encourage the clover to grow in our back. We have the typical white clover and I planted some red clover this year, too. I don't know much about the different varieties of clover available but a friend of mine planted his entire lawn in white clover and he doesn't mow any longer..lol.

MZ Cat, we've been known to plant whole feilds, but then we're farmers! we have white clover in the yard, and yarrow and violets and dandelions and golden rod and a host of weeds that if we sprayed, we would lose all the green. Monoculture at it's worst - the great American lawn. Here's to variety. I'll see if I can find you some seed. email me.

I will grow clover!!!! It stays green all year round and softer to lay down on :-)

Thanks all for the info I really appreciate it. I have a small patch in the back maybe I could take some plugs from the back and put them in the front lawn.

I love clover and have plans to have it as my "lawn" next year in between my flower beds, trees, roses and walkways..
I like the low maintenance of it, and how it feels when you walk and sit on it. :)

I wonder if clover seed is less expensive to buy than grass seed - any thoughts on this?
