Betty, the antidote to poison ivy that you described is commonly called Touch-Me-Not (or Jewel Weed) because the heat from your hands will make the seed pod fly open. It usually grows near poison ivy, and it's correct to crush the hollow stem and use what sap there is on an infected place. Doesn't work as well after the first few minutes of exposure.

Best Thing/worse thing and what did you learn today????? #4
Well I'm calling it a night..itchy/itchy
Best thing ... Rather than best, could say 'lucky thing' for today...we left the office 15 minutes early as a storm mass was moving through..lightning/thunder and heavy/heavy rain..got to the corner and fireworks happened..lightning hit just to the right of us at the Toronto Star bldg....so it was close...stormed for about 30 miles then clear..but you can feel it in the air...Sailor (border collie) is going crazy, trying to find a corner..so know the storm's on it's way...
Worse thing..got home and called June to see how Alex was doing only to be told they had to rush him into area hospital this morning...not doing well at all - not good...also got a call that Irene will be burried on Monday at 10:00 I'll be taking the day off work..She passed in April..but the service is Monday..
Learnt that once these cats are gone, that's it for me..they love being outside and go missing for a few days and I'm up half the night looking for them...I get tooo worried that something will happen to them....
Hope you all have a nice evening....talk tomorrow!!
Hi All - finally getting a chance to check in. Murphy-man is doing great! Back to his normal impishness!
Kid's sports are winding down. DD has her last soccer game Sat at 12:00; last game party at 2:00; DS has a b-ball game at 3:15; It's DD 12th BD so we're racing from her soccer party back home, pick up a few of her girlfriends who will go to DS game. Then we get back home around 6:00 and the rest of the girls come over. Feed them, take them to see Pirates 3 movie, bring them home, feed them Benedryl and go to sleep! ;-) (I wish!).
I love watching my son's baseball. He has the game Sat and then another Monday. If they win Monday, they are in the playoffs. Right now they are in 2nd place so if they can beat all the teams they've beaten so far PLUS the #1 team, they win the championship. I don't have a clue what happens after that but I will miss it when it's over.
So here's my best/worst/learned for today:
Best:receiving my box of plants from Bluestone Perennials and staying out in the dark to plant everything!
Worst: dealing with 12 yr old DD's attitude.
What I learned: that when my Mom "cursed me" with a "daughter just like me", she went a little overboard. I KNOW I wasn't like this cause I would have a hand print across my face! It's hard being a parent in today's world!
Have a great night everyone!!
Jeannine
Would love to comment on so many things you all have written. Cannot spend much time on the computer tonight. But I'm thinking of all of you and reading your stories. Very entertaining.
Best, my face is back to normal. (Unlike Betty...sorry)
Worst, been rushing all day. Feel like I'm in fast-motion.
Lesson, Sometimes it's a good thing to do something you wouldn't ordinarily do, just because a friend will be happy if you do it for her. Translation, I supported ($$) someone in her fund-raising walk for her pet charity. I would rather see my charity $$ go to my own favorite charity. So this month I will give to both, and make us both happy.
Best thing?
Celebrated my 42nd birthday and our wedding anniversary today.
Worst thing?
The temperature was muggy and humid.
What I've learned today?
That husbands may seem not to listen, but later they surprise you.
Like a mother who overhears her son using manners, it's funny,
hubbies can be just like kids, LOL.
Well, double HAPPY to you Wuvie.....sounds as if you had a great day!!!
How fun!!
Happy Birthday WUVIE! (and Happy Anniversary)
Best: tomorrow should be the last day of gall bladder problems.
Worst: I can only take morphine for pain after surgery. Allergic to too many other pain killers.
Learned: Sometimes Family come through when you least expect it. My oldest half brother is renting a car and driving 12 hours to stay with me a few days to take care of me.
Thinking and praying for you tomorrow, Darius.....hugs.
wuvie - congratulations youngster
betty - hope the poisen ivy is getting better
darius - thats great news
garden girl - wishing your son luck in the ball game
best thing that happened - 101 got her rain
worst thing - nothing yet but then its only 3.50 in the a.m. LOL
Morning all...
Darius..thank you so very much..and yes, the name is jewel weed..have to mark that down somewhere..remember/forget/remember etc. you know how it goes..thinking of you this morning..hope all goes well and you are quickly on the mend...
Herbie43..what are you doing up at that time of morning..up to no good I bet..into mischief..lol
Wuvie..belated happy birthday and happy anniversary..quite a day for you! You spoil that hubby/little boy in him...
Nap..you slow down a little..take time to enjoy life..goes by too quickly
Jeannine...teenage years...that's when you truly learn to be a mom..good luck with the remainder of the games..guess they all stop for summer vacation? I don't see my youngest grandchildren who live in the city as much at this time of year, or winter for that matter...hockey/t-ball/baseball/soccer .. the likes - always a game to play!
101...did the rain come back or was it just teasing you
Tropicanna...nice to get that hug..especially when you were not expecting it...shows maybe she thinks your special..and you are not even wearing a mini-mini skirt lol
Sharran...bet Nana's busy today..wonderful that you'll have company for a few days..hope you slept well...
Well I have 2 young grandchildren who wanted to spend the night with me so off I go..get them up and at it so I can leave for work 6:45 a.m. city heat and smog will be brutal today..and no, didn't convince the boss to let me work from home!!!!
I'm off...just making sure you are all o.k. and you are..have a great day!
Good morning!
Just wanted to start things off with a big fat hug and well wishes for darius. The way my head has been hurting all night I'm wishing morphine was my worst right about now-lol. We'll be praying for all to go great for you today and to be feeling much better.
And Betty-I am finding some more skirts, cause everyone wants to hug me when I wear one-lol. :)
good morning all,
darius, good luck will be thinking of you,
vicki, 6 years ohhhhh i went into this early oh i dont know what im going to do im only into this a year.
betty,i hope your poison ivy is under control have a good day, sorry to hear about alex
where did you find a mold for a cement bench.
wuvie, happy birthday and anniversary, wuvie are you a gemini too? lol
best thing:its friday end of the week
worst thing: someone stole a expensive flat iron and left the box(i hope they burn there hair)so today we have to do this big move, we have 16 feet of shampoo, cond, styling aids to take off the shelf, replace it with all irons, dryers, so they now sit at the register where we can watch them more closly,oh i hope i live through this one.
what i learned:you have to watch everyone
liz..isn't that terrible...the mold I have is one I purchased for $100.00 from stained glass store..stupid thing to do..I could have bought a cement bench for that amount..anyway..it's there is anyone else wants to pour it..I also have 3 molds for large stepping stones..usually I use mactac cut out to size of mold...place it in the mold..I take leftover glass &make a design freehand or by pattern... attach it to mactac which holds the glass while pouring..carefully just put bits in and trowel using your hand to get rid of bubbles and then continue to fill it..makes lovely stepping stones...
Tropicanna..thanks for the hugs..know we all enjoy them...
Gillibean..I took out a map this morning and checked out where you live..wow, now that's north and right at the Quebec border..I'd do fine there as I speak fluent french..guess that's because I am french lol..saw that the Polar Bear Express runs to your location...must be costly to ride? is it? what is the weather like at this time of year????
so many questions.....
Poison ivy clearing somewhat..need to stop for more calamine...going to rain today here in the City..so heavy and dark..can't wait for 1..hopefully I'll be home by 3 and get to cut grass before it rains up there...
Darius..keep praying for you..
Hello-
Betty, I am so sorry you got poison ivy-OWCH! My son used to get it really bad when he was little-had to have t topical steroid. I hope it goes away really quickly. You know once I was stuck in the hand with one of those prickly plant made my hands sting really bad, I had some of that hand Sterilizer so I used it like lotion and it took the sting away immediately. Maybe it would help with PI too.
Topicanna, Thank you for you additional advise for my friend. i gave her the info incase she needs it. She did in fact make the call. She was then referred to another councelor for Domestic cases. She said she will call if the parents allow her to. She went back home last night.
Sharran, Thank you too-I feel for her and told her that if she ever needs she can come and talk to me. My door will always be open should she need. The parents made her wait until 9:30 at night then they didn't even pick her up they asked my daughter to give her a ride home! Well she didn't have a full time job, she did make a step with calling the counselor, and she actually had money in her pocket for stacking wood. So she was happy about that.
Worst thing-I have been on an emotional roller coaster for a while
Best thing-I sat down and wrote prayer to my mom as to not forget anything. Guess What-As soon as i got home my prayers were answered one by one-addressed in one way or another. Today I am at ease. Also I wrote up a Thank you -Haven't told anyone all that was on my mind
Learned The power of prayer is miraculas-Mom's spirit really is with me.
Good evening all..
Darius...Prayers are with you..thought of you often today..to glad you have someone there to spoil you...
Tropicanna - How's the head..hope you are feeling better as well...you'll have to post photo of you and mini skirt..lol
Judy, I'm sure she will know exactly where to find you if she needs you..your children will keep you up on her activities and you can always intervene..so heartbreaking...sure hope her parents are committed to her well being..
Amazing when you ask just how many prayers are answered...I'm so glad yours were..I think spirits walk beside us every day..we all have angels..not so sure that some of our friends haven't been sent to us as 'earthly angels' that's what I call them..and I have many that I'm thankful for...
We just have to believe....
Well, I can feel how tired I'm getting so I'm going to post before I doze off again...
Best thing..left work at 1 and my SIL dropped me off in Barrie..I had my car as I wanted to run an errand..went to co-op and picked up 16' x 4' of animal fence as to make an arch for vines in the back yard..have the 6 x 6's so hopefully tomorrow I'll get it done, as well, got all the grass cut... 3 1/2 hrs. / plants all watered..animals fed and now it's time to spoil ME/ME/ME...
Worse thing that happened .. this very humid/hot weather plays havoc on my brother's health..his lungs are not the best..guess quiting smoking would be the thing to do, but..who am I to tell him..he won't listen when I do...
What did I learn.. that dogs can catch herpies??? my SIL's son-in-law bred his dog with the breeder choice of mate...all pups died..they sent them for autopsy and it came back that it had 'herpies' apparently it's common in dogs..not much you can do for it as well..my SIL's daughter also got a little beagle about 4 weeks ago, will have to have it checked...hmmmm ...moving in their house today so they sure don't need the extra vet bills...
So, I'm off .. hopefully I'll get good night sleep + early rise for that Church plant sale first thing in the a.m. .... I'll take photo's of all my finds...lol
Have a good night!
Hey everybody!
Darius-wishing you the best and sending positive thoughts on a speedy recovery
Best: I got to talk with a friend of mine that is moving to Washington DC soon, for a very long time--girl style. I laughed so hard!
Worst: Have had the headache pretty much all day, but I'm used to headaches, so it's okay. Had someone call me again at 7:30 am.....sigh......how is anyone at their best that early?
What I learned: Well, I can't remember who said it earlier, but I apparently couldn't learn from their experience. I, too learned (for the thousandth time) that if you just toss down the hose when you're done watering....you might get sprayed! Almost power washed the house, though-lol
Woah!!
miss a day and so much happens its leaves your head spinning! lol
whats poison ivy? sounds aweful!
best thing? kissing my new GS and smelling that 'baby smell' on him.
worst? gotta go for my walk. My body and i arnt gettin along right now but eventually it will see it my way! lol
Im planning a little.............. something shall we say...............no...no.............its a secret.
but if oyu havnt yet.... how about emailing me your address?? why?? well you will just have to wait and see wont you??? *giggle*
Wonder...everything you post makes me smile. And the words of everybody are so fun and uplifting! I could never have found a better thread to join, I can hardly wait to get here at the end of the day.
Darius, I hope you now can go through tomorrow totally pain free, and Tropicana...... we gotta do something to make that headache go away!!!
I pushed our rain down south to Georgia....maybe I can push a headache free day to you!
Betty, I'll bet your morning will be filled with flowers, flowers, flowers....
And to everybody else, happy first June weekend!!!
Best: spent the day playing with my nearly 3 year old grandson.....he sure can run circles around his Nana!!! And I love every minute of it.
Worst: nothing bad about this lovely day, except that when Ethan watered the flowers with me, he also watered me from the waist down, and that was real fun!!!!
What I learned: there is no greater joy that spending the day with a lovely little boy who wants to know who painted the sky blue, and what makes the flowers different colors, and can we play outside again tomorrow.
And God willing, that's just what we will do!!!!
Have a good rest tonight, and I will be anxious to hear about your tomorrow.
Sher
betty - do you think the mail arrives in your mailbox by magic?? of course not. it's yours truly at work. LOL
101 is gone for the weekend so don't know about her rain
down under - you are so right. grandkids are a joy. i hope i get to enjoy one real soon.
Grandkids are great...
its funny.. took some time getting my head around it all. Didnt want to be called nana and didnt want to be called grandma.... not sure why now but just didnt... well, my GD couldnt say either so now i am known as 'ninny' cos she couldnt say nana! guess i am a ninny for worrying about it!lol
he other day my GD who is 2 1/2 said when we were going to the grocery store, "Ninny, i wont touch anything and will be good for you. But if yiu want me to get things for you, i can put them in the trolly (shopping cart) and then i will be your helper, shoppinger getterer.."! too funny.... 2 going on 20 that one!
I wont the battle, went for my walk! lol my two sons and my DH went with me. I felt like i was surrounded by body guards as i puffed and panted around the park. hahahah too funny. My oldest son who is 27 next month said" are we done yet" heh.... this old gran out walked him! woohoo....
Sharran, thanks for the compliment. Dont always have good days tho. Have down loaded a few times on this thread and they all are patient and understanding. Happy to have made you smile. You know, sometimes it is the little things that can make you smile.
Did I tell you all I am writing a childrens story??? Yah, its about half way done. Gotta have a dream and mine is to have pixar, who did monsters inc and so forth, do it and see it on the big screen...... bet you all want to know what its about. Well, CANT TELL YOU! hahahahaahhahah not yet anyways but it tells us that we all have a journey to take, that we all need to accept ourselves for who and what we are. try and improve if we can, find courage when we need it and every now and then put others before our selves and enjoy the ride. It tells us that sometimes bad things do happen but that we can get through it, and find our happy ending. I think kids need to know that.....
Have a good day.
xx
good morning everyone...
Hope Darius got through the operation yesterday without too much discomfort...
What am I up this early on a Sat. for? Well all the housework is done, counted my money twice ...lol..then off the the church "PLANT SALE"...
Don't you just love taking a tour in the early morning and seing the beauty that surrounds you..grass just cut..flowers blooming..birds a singning..awesome!!!
I'll have a busy day when I get home..so do want to put up the metal arch..though not quite sure what tools I have that I can bring outdoors to cut the 6x6's into proper size...but am sure I'll figure it out..I'll be carefull..need these fingers for typing to you all...
I'll check up on you during my breaks....
Enjoy your day!
Darius - I hope all went (and is) well.
Betty - That's so cool that you speak French. DH is the French teacher here and we spent 10 months living in France a few years ago. I can speak it well enough to order pastries at the bakery - and a few other things. Not many people speak French here though, it's mostly English with some Cree. The Polar Bear Express is about $95 return. It's not too bad but it takes soooo long, especially with three children. If you ever want an adventure you are always welcome here. We're a little isolated but we really like it here - and I like the weather. It's around 20 degrees (celcius) today. I don't handle the extreme heat very well so I'm quite happy here.
Yesterday DD had said that she wanted to have today be a switch day so I would pretend to be her and she would pretend to be me. She even remembered when she woke up so it's been really fun to call her Mom. She's so fun to have around.
Yesterday
Best - One of my sisters called to let me know she wanted to visit this summer. We had a really nice chat.
Worst - I stayed up way too late watching a movie. However, since it was a movie I had been wanting to watch for a few weeks I'm glad I finally had a chance to watch it.
Learned - It now costs $10 to take the water-taxi to Moosonee - yikes. Last year it was only $8. I guess that's what happens with the price of gas rising.
Today
Best - Went to the home and garden show in Moosonee today. I bought a few plants and a really funky wool purse as well as some other things.
Worst - I really need to spend time tidying the house today. I've ignored it for way too long. There are so many much more enjoyable things to do but the clutter has finally caught up with me.
I'll have to come back with something I learned. I'm going to a sewing circle tonight so I'm hoping I'll learn something there.
I'm now off to do something with the plants I just bought.
Evening all...we'll sure has been a day..am 'tuckered out'..son dropped in and wanted me to come over for swim and supper, but a quiet evening sounds more to my liking...was sitting on back deck and watching that black squirrel struggling to get rid of birdhouse roof again...I added glue and about 20 nails..if he gets it off this time, then I'll leave it the way it is - roofless..as he will have deserved it!!!
Best thing that happened to me was the purchase of over 80 plants at the church plant sale..well you guys knew I couldn't resist...and they are all planted...and my brother and SIL from the city dropped in for an hours visit..was visiting all the his sibblings...nice surprise...he's thinking of retiring at 50 in and around this area...I'll enjoy that!!!
Worse thing that happened to me was that I was trying to make that arbor from fencing but I must have purchased wrong materials..so..$50.00 down the drain unless I can get creative....
What did I learn today...all my physical labor re gardening is starting to show..not as great as my girlfriend across the street who has the bed and breakfast but then my gardens are 2 years old not 15...so I'll continue with the progress I'm making and be happy...
So, I'll be up early..and will post a note to each of you..
sure do hope you enjoyed the day!!!
hello all,
darius i hope your doing well..
gillibean, oh im with you on clutter, i think its only a matter of time before dh hangs the sign estate sale lol
betty, how is the poison ivy, oh that squirel, i have a funny story it happened two mths ago
we were in the yard and there is bird house we hung back in 1990 no one ever claimed it well for years i noticed something has been chewing the opening larger and larger then all kinds of stuff started being packed inside looked like cotton batting for quilts, well curiosity killed me to know, but i was not about to get the ladder and look in, so off i went to get my mini rake i stood on the side and hit the house twice omg here came literally a squirel flying right at me. i was screamed running and swatting the varmit with my rake it finally made a quick left and over the fence. dh was in stiches
so im not to fond of squirels at the moment, but we have a black one that comes by what a shinny coat it has( so how did you do at the sale?????)lol your lucky to speak french, back when i was younger i knew how to speak greek and some spanish i thought i could master french oh for get it i had a tutor and i still couldnt get it.
best thing: got to plant a little and do some cleaning
worst i went to 5 garage sales and came home with nothing
learned:;tomorrows another day to ad more junk to my pile have a great evening
all liz
Betty, you'll have to fill us in on the plants you bought.
Liz, I think I would have freaked if a squirrel came flying at me. Those things have teeth and claws.
Well, here's what I learned today. I missed a whole section of the home show. I didn't realize there was anything in that part of the building till I was talking to one of my friends at the sewing circle. Oh well, I spent all my money anyway. Apparently, they had a lot of native crafts there that would have been nice to see though. At least there weren't any plants in that section.
Best thing about this day was supper!! Stopped on the way home from work because I was craving BLTs and had to buy bacon. (Wow, delicious BLTs) I also got some strawberries and bananas, peaches and ice cream and whipped them all up with some ice cubes. They made the perfect smoothie! It was hot and humid here today and the smoothie hit the spot!
Worst thing about the day was that work was very busy. But I shouldn't mind because it pays the bills. And it's air-conditioned.
My lesson for the day, when you take plant cuttings to work to give to a co-worker and you forget to take them into the building, you come out to your hot car 8 hours later to find them slumped over and gasping for water! Poor little things. I imagine they will revive nicely as soon as she gets them home and gives them their long-awaited drink of water.
Early evening here, heaviness in the air, can feel a storm brewing in, but, just in case I'd better water those flowers...need to cut a little area next to the house..owners who are having their house built have junk/junk all around the back side of mine..know they'll clean it up, don't need one extra thing to do ..but I do just want to tidy it up lol/lol...
Well I enjoyed the plant sale, purchased 80 of them and spent the day planting/watering...so I still need a lot more for around the pond so next weekend that's on me 'priority' list of 'to do's'
Liz, that squirrel is still trying lol..but I think so far I've won..thanks for sharing your story..funny/funny! Isn't it strange that whenever these things happen there is always somebody around to see it..DH must have been having fits of laughter...I love garage sales, trying to stay away from them though...don't think there is much I need but if I get to one I want to take everything home with me..see all the different things I can create..so, bet I buy plants instead!!
Wonder..isn't that one of the best ventures you can take..the ability to write children's stories and mold their lives somewhat by the message it sends..how proud I am of you, how envious I am that you have the fortitude to take on such a task...wow..aren't we all impressed...and yes, you've peaked our interest....
Hope Darius is feeling better..so much to go through...know she hasn't been well for awhile..miss her posts..am sure she'll be back with us shortly....
Gillibean..I would have thought being so close to Quebec border that you would have a lot of french speaking people...my DH spoke mostly in french in the house and I'd answer in English..my boys did not go to French school because I felt I never mastered either language...both had to suffer...they understand everything but after their father passed and my grandparents who raised me passed I really didn't have anyone to converse with...but I can still write and it takes me a few moments but I can quickly get back into it...How did your 'switch day' go...bet there are a lot of things you learn on those days...hubby and I used to have a 'his' day and then a 'my' day each week so I'd save all those things he had no interest in for 'my' day...but payback was a .....the things I had to do with him.......
Nap, how did those plant cuttings survive? Even though I immediately planted those I purchased and watered prior to planting and after planting..some look like they are drooping..a lot of the soil is sandy, know I need topsoil but hope they survive till I can get them some..what are the chances they do well in sandy soil????
here's a photo of my recent 'church plant' sale findings...
ok/ok..this is my 'check-in' post...
Best thing that happened to me today was going and getting a perm..tomorrow I'm sure to look like 'little miss frizzy' with all this humidity in the air..but I sure needed some curls and a cut..thank goodness for these hair cut centers that are opened Sundays! Also dropped in the girlfriend who just got back from Florida..she picked me up 2 gorgeous outfits...so now I'll really look pretty..not as pretty as that someone who wears 'mini skirts' but I'll come in 2nd...lol...
Worse thing that happened to me today is not having any energy..had lots to do..got home from town and had 3 different girlfriends drop in and their visit was so enjoyable...but the sitting took all my energy so now I'll really have to push myself to water incase rain blows over...
What did I learn...that even though Irene (my aunt) but really sister's at heart because she was the youngest of the family when grandparents raised me so we were as close as sisters..well, she passed in April and the funeral is tomorrow...not looking forward to it..but it will put her at rest..Alan is doing very poorly health wise since her passing...wouldn't doubt he'd not be long for this world..they were inseperable..sometimes that happens...
So dear friends, weekend has past..look forward to your week's posts...have a nice evening...
Here is a link for Darius http://davesgarden.com/forums/p.php?pid=3569199 - go to the thread for a follow up. She is still in the hospital and in ICU after her gallbladder surgery yesterday. I hope she is home soon! Darius you are close in my thoughts! This too shall pass.
-Kim
wonder - promiose me when its published yhou will send me a signed copy along with a bill naturally. LOL i hope you are successful in getting it published.
best thing today - my son chris and his girlfriend danielle (my future DIL) came to visit. danielle my wife and my son franks girl went to a bridal shower for my neighbors daughter.chris brought along a brochure from the place where they will be having their wedding. its in new jersey not far from atlantic city. they asked us questions about what we thought should be on the menu since they are offered dozens of choices. my wife loves that danielle thinks enough of her to ask her opinion aboutthe wedding and anything else. last month she asked us to come visit so she and my wife could go look at wedding gowns. the wedding will be march of next year.
worst thing - AGAIN i did not get my plants into their containers. i have been putting it off since the last week of may. between tomorrow and wednesday i will get them done.
what i learned today - that deer love to walk on the while line of the highway at 3:45 a.m. scared the heck out of me.
daerius - hoping to hear from you soon. we miss you.
gilli - its funny. i am italian. my grandparents spoke italan and english but mostly english in front of us kids, took italian for 4 years in high school and passed with good grades. spent four years in italy while in the service and i still have not mastered the language. LOL luckily, most of the people i came in contact with spoke engliahs pretty well.
Betty, will be thinking of you tomorrow through the memorial for your aunt.
I enjoyed all the other posts, too, just have a nearly 3 year old hanging over my shoulder and have no time to write much.
Best thing today: enjoying little Ethan as we played in the yard.
Worst thing: hard to realize this old body just simply cannot keep up with him.
What I learned: It's great to have young neighbors who have 2 little girls and a swingset in their back yard....also a golf cart ......who are willing to give Nana a break and take Ethan for a swing and a ride.
Have a good Monday.....sunshine to you.
Hi y'all ... I'm home!
I've been MIA over the week-end at my nephew's graduation and my nieces wedding. It was suppose to be an outdoor wedding but was rained out and had to be held inside. We needed the rain sooo bad that we really couldn't complain. We got over 3 inches of much needed rain! Woohoo!!
Best thing for today ... Made it home safe, and it didn't rain a single drop on us. :)
Worse thing ... Gosh I can't think of anything. Guess it would have to be that the wind and rain broke the top out of my fox glove ... but really that's ok. We * needed * that rain!!
What I've learned ... That it's soooo good to be home!! LOL
Betty, I do hope that poison ivy is better tomorrow.
Wonder, you make me smile also. I want to read your book ! You're doing something I've always dreamed about. Go for it!!! That's terrific!
Sher, you sound soooo good today. :) Hugs !
Okay, I'm just too tired to do this thread justice tonight. Y'all forgive me, ok?
Hey 101....did I send you too much rain?? Sorry, was just trying to share.
Glad you had a good trip.
Worse thing:::: to wet to do much gardening.
Best thing ::::went shopping instead and ran into my sister and her husband. That never happens! Got an update on their health and he could use some help with some things. DH plans on going there and seeing what's what. Then we will see if I can do anything to help.
What did I learn::::I need to check the vegie garden more. Lost my canning tomatoes.
Betty, I'd love to come help you plant those. Wish I could. But if I did, I might try to sneak that black and white kitty across the border with me! I will find out tomorrow if those cuttings survived, but I'm pretty sure they did.
God bless you, Darius.
Best thing today was spending time with my adult son at his place, and showing him a CD of my Letchworth photos. He downloaded all 129 of them, he liked them so much. Made me happy.
Worst thing, I skipped my visit to the Nursing Home because it was stormy, but I feel kind of guilty about it because she depends on my visits. She has no one else. She really looks forward to me coming.
Lesson of the day, I realized how blessed I am. I have everything I need though we are not wealthy. I can easily live without some of the creature comforts that my friends take for granted. I know where my blessings come from. Thank you God.
Nap,
I read your post and had to go back to look at the photos to find the kitty...oh my goodness!!!! Looks just like my Daisy!!! Didn't know she had a twin living up north. I was so busy looking at all the flowers and at the planter Betty had painted that I didn't see the kitty. Thanks for pointing it out. Great pictures.
OK missed yesterday, so for the weekend:
Best: My fiance finally brewed a batch of beer the way I've been asking him to for years-it smells so good to wake up to the smell of chocolate barley ;)
Worst: DD still having problems with allergies-we go to an opthamologist today because her eyes get so ridiculously puffy.
What I learned--OK, everyone can snicker......I am determined to be the first person to land in the emergency room with an injury resulting from watering the garden. I learned if you are watering and the hose has a kink, keep the nozzle in your hand, people! The pressure can build up fast, really fast. When I unkinked the hose it slung back around and smacked me in the shoulder. ouch!
If anyone else's hose seems to have it out for them, I'd love to hear your stories-lol
hey herbie, if it gets somewhere i will definatley send you a signed copy.. no charge of course!
best thing??? hmm finding it hard to find one today...
worst thing... went and weighed in and put on about 1 and 1/2 ounds!! sigh.... tried real hard too! grrrrrrrr
oh well, tomorrow is another day i guess.
Oh BTW tropicana, cant tell yo a hose story but those rakes ( do you call them that ovedr there?) keep smacking me in the head! lol
