Anyone out there maybe have a pic of califlower seedlings? I planted some, but not sure what are weeds and what is actual califlower. Thanks in advance
Califlower?
Thanks Farmer, I really appreciated the pics, now I can weed my garden without pulling the wrong thing :-)
You are welcome, but I have reservation about growing cauliflower in Florida in the summer. It is a cool weather plant and not really amenable to direct sowing.
I didn't know that about cauliflower, I knew that about berries. I will see how it goes and if nothing happens then I will try again toward the end of the summer months. Thanks for the info :-)
Have to agree with farmerdill, we dont get anything like the heat you get, I am hear in Scotland UK and dont even start our seeds for Collie's indoors away from the frost, in feb/march and transplant them oudoors when frost has passed, they dont like sunshine as this opens up the white heads and the go to seed before the florret has formed, also some years come winter, if any are not white and full, we break off a couple of leaves and lay them over the white florrets to protect them from winter frost, they are not a quick veg and need a longer growing time than most veg, but good luck anyway, if you see collie's in the stores, they have usualy came from a cooler climate and traveled to your area. Weenel.
I am in zone 9a in Texas.....we grow cauliflower, broccoli, onions, carrots, spinach, lettuce , etc all as winter garden. We start cauliflower, broccoli as small plants....everything else will grow from seed well. We put the in the ground in November.....we also use mulitplying onions....
I was planning on planting some cauliflower in the garden and was wondering if it would grow in a rocky area?
As long as there is soil and nutrients, It is not as heavy a feeder as corn, but still requires a lot. In your area, it is time to start seeds for August transplant, or you can buy seedlings in August.
