the new tomato plant probly 6-12 inches tall. The stems are completley gone. the leaves are left behined. i live in savannah ga. my mother is a gardener that lives in Tn and she has never heard of such a thing. it happens during the middle of the day while i am at work so that rules out the posibility of racoons and armodillos and oposoums. definetly not cut worms they leave most of the stem. i mean the stem is compleatly gone every square inch of it. all thats left is the leaves. please help i have already lost 3 tomoatoe plants and only have one left.

Groundhog, most likely. I had the same problem with my green beans just recently. We have a live trap and I set it but so far no luck.
