Is it possible to keep deer away and if so, please any advice would be a start. thank you.

Right off the bat I'd suggest fencing, though it has to be quite tall since they can leap a good distance. Some people use exotic urines (cougar, etc.) or 'collect' their own (typically their first pee of the day since it's the most pungent). Hardcore deer normally won't fall for the urine. If you were going to try the urine, buy or collect it then spread around the perimeter.

I have been able to stave them off thus far with Deer Fortress and Liquid Fence. I am going to add Green Screen next. I got both the Deer Fortress and the Liquid Fence at True Value hardware and I am ordering the Green Screen powder here : http://www.wrdist.com/deer_repellent.html I only have 3 areas on about 1 acre of land though. My biggest burm is about 30 - 35 yards by 10 - 12 yards though so it isn't tiny either.

There's a new device on the market now, a manufactured version of an old solution I read here on DG last year. It's a water sprinkler on a 4' post combined with a motion detector. When the deer moves into range, the detector activates the sprinkler which scares away the deer. Saw them today at the hardware store for $80.

I've used human hair successfully. Any beauty shop will give you their clippings. Just spread them around your plants like mulch and reapply as needed. I've heard they don't like the scent.

I've got the same trouble with deer in Scotland, you either learn what plants they dont like, or the methods sugested earlier, if you go for the water sprinkler though, move it to new position every so often as the deer get used to it and ignore it,(like yeh, she/he thinks we are scared of a little squirt of water) I have chicken wire cages till the plants get bigger. I was also told that lion/big cat droppings do the trick also, but husband was not too happy at ideas of constant trips to either Africa or zoo park, but was told you can actualy buy it
Good luck, me think you will really resort to high fenceing though, OR a yappy dog. WeeNel.
