grow Hydrangea indoors?

Does anyone know if I can grow a hydrangea indoors? I recently received one as a gift from a florist.

Hi Anniebelle, I think if your plant (Hydrangia) came from a florist, it will be an indoor plant and you will care for it as you would any garden hydrangia, they like a good drink when the soil feels on the dry side, you should also give an ocasional feed and at the end of the flowering season, you can deadhead/prune to keep it to a managable size, dont sit it at a window where the leaves will scorch with magnified sun through the glass, but it will need lots of light.
Once new leaves start to just show next year, you can repot it into a slightly larger pot, some people put them out into a sunny spot in the garden or patio for summer and this helps to ripen the woody stems, others put them into the garden to grow and have a lot of success with that. good luck whatever way you feel happier doing. your florist should have growing instructions or a leaflet that might help you further re feed and water ect.
