I just bought two "rosy glow" barberry bushes. They looked great. I planted them in a sunny area about a week and a half ago. Now suddenly one is looking terrible, while the one planted two feet away is doing well. What is killing it? It has received enough water, and is shaded during the heat of the day. It receives sun light primarily after 2pm in the afternoon. Is it slugs? Or can it be some other pest? The leaves and stems looked wilted and almost burned. I did not use fertilizer or any chemical. Can I save this plant?
I added a picture below!

new rosey glow barberry is dying
Can you post a picture? It could be transplant shock, that's normal for recently planted things especially if they're in the sun and if your weather's been at all warm. There could also be some sunburn on the leaves if where you planted them gets more/stronger sun than where they were at the nursery.
Hi Cabrlamo, I agree with Ecrane3, It is pos that one part of a garden CAN have different soil to just next door, but it would not show up quite that quick, I also agree it sounds like some form of stress, do you have a pet that could have used that part of the garden??, somethings burned your leaves, so could it be urine, or as Ecrane3 said, maybe too hot sun for a young plant, however as I think over here we would call this plant Berberis, this is usualy quite a tough plant, I would also like to see a picture to save any confusion, any chance to view this plant then one of us may be of more help, nothing worce than planting and watching it die on you soon as it goes into the ground. hope someone comes to your aid soon.

Thanks for the replies. We do have a pet, but because our yard is not yet fenced he is not allowed to run around. So we can rule out the pet theory. I just bought a digital camera, so I will see if I can take a picture of it. Thanks for your help.
Hi cabrlamo, it sounds daft, but is there any pos another pet has come into your garden attracted by the scent of yours, I know when we had dogs, the odd visitor, off the lead would pass by and spray their own scent on my garden, it sounds to me like something has burnt the top growth rather than a root problem from underground, I am stabbing in the dark here, pic might help to see closer, good luck with the new camera, if you are anything like me, it will be out of date by the time you master it all. Happy snapping.

I am having the same problem with mine. It looks the same but has no leaves. I noticed it shortly after I planted it. It's on a slope and although it looks rough it still has spikes and the wood is still hard so I think it's still alive. Is there anything I can do to save it? It is in full sun and it happened within 2-3 weeks or so after transplanting.
