We were wondering (idly, in passing) if there's any chance daughter #2 could be pregnant. (Those baby-doll empire waist things make everyone look pregnant, except the anorexic ones.) (And she gained 30 - 40 pounds during the school year at Grandma's) She's 16. I was pretty happy, exhausted but happy, when I kicked their creepy father out!
But then I met my DH. He had 4 children, but most were older. Two teenagers at home with the awful wife. So first there were 4 (XDH + 3) then just 3, then 3 + 1 (+ 2), then we turned the dining room into a bedroom and one DSS moved in, then out. (4 +1) Within months he was replaced by DSD, then DSS and DSD (in the living room. (5-1= 4 +1 +1 = 6!) Then gradually one by one people started leaving, first DSS then DSD (she was 25, it was time), but now my own DD "because the schools are better in Grandma's school district". So now we're down to 3 (+ 3). Anyone who's ever lived here feels entitled to walk in with a suitcase and x number of friends and sleep here, with or without spending any time here! At least, in a few years, when they learn how to drive and get jobs etc., when they come home we can say "go to your father's/mother's place! Go on, scram."

Daily Musings - page 13
Carrie, your post looks like an algebra problem!!
lol.... well, how about when you leave the house and your entire family comes after you!??? I don't have any kids... but I ended up with all of them.... I have come to the conclusion that I will NEVER live by myself... oh well, it could be worse... the kids could all be mine and I could not give them back!!!!
Victor, I was inspired by Gram's description of her growing household. And you can't kick them out, even SD and SS are somebody else's DD and DS. There are avenues you do NOT want to venture down, no matter what. (What would DH say if I said "no"?) Also, I figure I'm building up credits for when my DDs move back in after college.
xx, Carrie
Victor, more like a juggling problem...right, Carrie? and you have to tread those waters carefully.
Kass, I don't know how you do it with your house full now. How many bathrooms do you have? You need to marry off your sisters LOL
Gram, we have 3 full bathrooms... so far things are ok... well yesterday I stayed outside from 8:30 ish until 8pm..... I planted and planted and talked to the plants... my mom was calling me and telling me I was going to get sick since I was in the rain!!!!! well, I had fun... specially because I was alone in the garden.... just God and I and the plants!!!!plus some aphids and spiders....
today Alec and Victor - rascall #1 and #2 were wild... so of course last night I played with them and we screamed and run and jumped on each other and of course they were so happy!!!! so my sister is blaming me for getting them "TOO" happy yesterday.... oh well, I let them play in the rain, feed them chocolate ice cream, and they can get dirty and wet!!!!
I am going to try to marry my sisters.... I want to be alone in the house with my mom...
What a great aunt you are!!!! Those boys are lucky.
Wish me luck please....DH is having surgery tomorrow. This is #4 on the same ankle, but hopefully the last. They are putting in 2 rods and 4 screws, it won't be moving as well but it should stop the swelling and the pain. He's hoping to get rid of his walking stick(it's a cane but he hates calling it that) for good. He'll turn 43 on Wed.....that would be a nice B-day gift and one he won't soon forget!
Take care all and behave!!!!! LOL See you in a few days.
Celeste
Good luck Celeste. What happened to it originally, if you don't mind me asking? We're almost the same age - I'm 44. At least that should help.
Here is my wish for luck for your DH - and that the operation is a stupendous success, the rains stop (for a while) and your gardens, you, and your family all flourish.
good luck. Tell him to remember to tell people at the airport security that he's now got rebar in his ankle so they can not conclude he is a terrorist.
My neighbor got teflon knees and says it is wonderful and that the metal detectors stay nice and quiet.
Martha
Well Victor, he was shot while on the job site with a nail gun. This nail was 16 penny nail and it went through the boot , the muscle, achillies tendon and into the bone. The first operation the took the muscle and the A.Tendon off the heel, removed a piece of metal the nail left in the bone, ground down the spurs off the heel and attached all back on. The 2nd operation they stretched the A. Tendon and removed bone fragments, and relieved pressure off the nerves(which are now permantly damaged). The 3rd one they scraped calcium deposit off the joint and removed more bone spurs. They wanted to do a joint replacement but he's too young and active. They need to be replaced every 8 years on an older gentleman that wasn't as active. So he had to settle for this as he is tired of living with the swelling, pain and limitations.
BTW......thanks for all the good wish's!!
Your DH has my sympathies - it sounds extremely painful, and being an active person probably makes the limitations very frustrating.
Wow, what an ordeal! The poor guy - he's been through a lot. I'm sure there was also lots of rehab involved and will be again. Best of luck. He's earned it.
Rehab....oh yes, 16-24 weeks so far each time. From start of operation untill the final physical therapy appt. is over. It's gonna be a looooooonnnnngggg summer.
This really is one for the records book...I don't usually tell people cause i can see that look come across their face. You know the one that says "Are you kidding me? Who's dumb enough to get shot by a nail gun and to such extreme?" Where as I want to shout "HE DIDN'T SHOOT HIMSELF!!!!" But see i told you guys cause i can't see your face. he he he
Ouch!! I wish the best of luck and health for a great operation and speedy recovery for your DH Celeste.
Celeste, stop feeling that way! Nail guns are dangerous. Lots of people (too many) get shot by them. Glad it was his foot and not his heart or head.
Wow - someone else shot him! Unfortunately, what my friend went through will make DH count his blessings. My friend was impaled on re-bar. If I told you the details you would cringe. Suffice to say it went through him and his panicked co-workers pulled him off it!! He herniated 8 disks but missed major organ damage by about 1/8 inch. He just won a large settlement but it was certainly not worth it.
Cringing already....
You know . . . it's really amazing the kinds of industrial accidents that men suffer - and often they risk these injuries because they are working to provide for their families.
I often think that men do not get the credit they deserve (well, the same goes for women too, but at least women have an international social movement working on their behalf)
Celeste - good luck tomorrow and I hope all goes well for your husband. He's been through a lot and still more to go. Eleanor (the old grammyphoeb)
Pixie,
I'm hoping for the best for your DH. What an ordeal!
Hey folks, the ewwwww factor is getting pretty high in here.
Celeste, I hope that your DH will come through his surgery successfully. He can clean and sharpen all of your garden tools while seated this summer, as well as scrub out all your terra cotta pots. Also put new fittings on the garden hose. I have had knee trouble from one of my cancer meds and I found that these are jobs I can handle while seated. I do have my son to help with the heavy lifting and dragging.
However, I can watch CSI if I want to watch icky ways to get shot or impaled. Ewwwww.
I hope he recovers quickly and completely.
Martha
Pixie - prayers for you and DH from me. Hope you have a remote for the TV for him or life could get really ugly, really fast.
Hey, where's Andy been lately? Anybody know?
Celeste, hope all is going well for your husband... oh what a pain... I have a heel spur that is killing me... the bone is overgrown now and is pressuring the aquiles tendon... you can actually see the bone growth ... every time I get up I limp.... so I can just imagine his frustration....
I aggree with Yank... handle over the remote!!!!
Andy has his own website for daily pics... and people subscribe to his site... so he is probably busy with that...
Andy has been posting on Photos.
Gosh, I'm older than most of you...... how did that happen? It started the day I brought my first newborn baby to the pediatrician, and he was younger than I. We're now part of the older generation... remember don't trust anyone over 30? Now it's hard to trust anyone under 30! Yikes.
xxx, Carrie
I've yet to meet anyone for whom time goes in the opposite direction.
Oh, you're a junior mint, Victor, not old enough yet to have really lived!
x, C.
Really!? Thanks - though my aching body begs to differ.
Hey, I'm here ~ sometimes. lol.
Best of luck for you DH, Pixie.
I have been busy with my site, new features to add that I know nothing about, lol. I started it on a lark when my work was slow. Now work is busy and the site is taking off ~ what's a guy to do?
The garden has been neglected, I still have bulbs/tubers waiting to go in. The lawn is out of control and Sarah wants to go for a walk.
Maybe if I got off-line and drank less beer, things might get done, lol.
I have the first strwaberries....
Andy P
Looks nice Andy. And they go great with beer! I will probably try the net again so I can get some myself.
Hi Andy! I was missing you. Your strawberry looks delicious. I'll check out your site. :)

Notice we now have 'suggested NE Forum threads' at the bottom of the page??!
I just noticed that too. I just saw a post by me!
Wonder how they're chosen.
Hi, Andy. I want strawberries :-)
I bet they're randomly chosen. On another forum I was offered some threads with no new posts since 2006!
Andy, DH and I will be down this evening, Ok? For strawberry shortcake, I mean.
