Unknown Fuzzy Thing

Champaign, IL(Zone 5b)

Hey! My mom got a hanging basket of Escapade Bright Eye Verbena from my sister, and in the middle of it is some other plant. Its bluish/silver green and fuzzy. I thought it was lamb's ear, but it grows like a ground cover...or like the verbena in the basket. Its really pretty. Oh, and the stems feel woody. Any ideas?

Can you post a pic? It may be dusty miller. Is the leaf lobed? is it a big leaf? is it lacey looking? Need more input.

I may be able to get a pic next time I'm over there, I don't have a digital camera, but she does. It isn't lacy, its not a big leaf. It may be lobed, if I knew what that meant. I will look at dusty miller and get back to you.

Ok, its not dusty miller. The leaves kinda remind me of stone crop...the stem feels woody but isn't brown...its green just like the leaves. It is definately the same color as the dusty miller though. And, its on long stems...good for a hanging basket.

I would guess licorice. It is like a mini lambsear shaped like stonecrop. google it. It looks great in window boxes.

Hi Kis 01, I was about to sugest Senecio Viravira, It has the woody stems that you mention and in UK it is used as a trailer for hanging baskets, if you crush the leaves the senecio smells a bit like Thyme the herb, but only another guess, WeeNel.

Thanks WeeNell. I looked it up, and apparently it is the same as Dusty Miller. It looks just like it except for the leaf shape....pretty sure its licorice. Thanks though for the help!
