I have small brown mushrooms about the size of quarters growing in my haystack soiless garden. what could be the cause?
mushroom growing in my hay soiless garden
Mushrooms are a fungus so they grow where either damp, dark, ie not enough sunlight, or the spores have been introduced via some new plant or old wood left rotting, try to scrape away around where some are growing and that should give more clue's as to why they have appeared,
or go to the librery and find a book on mushrooms, some are toxic especialy if you dont know where it came from, but most are harmless to people, some kill plants as that is where they get food sorce from, I dont think you need to panic, but if you cant find the kind of mushroom, just keep pulling the tops of and burn them, wash your hands afterwords, the spores get released from the caps and blow onto the next area, so get rid of the caps first of all.
