Aphids on my honeysuckle

North-West England, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

I've got a massive greenfly problem on my honeysuckle and I don't know what to do. The little blighters are all over the new buds and I'm afraid they're going to kill them all. Can anyone recommend an organic, non-posionous, non chemical solution to get rid of them? I've tried picking them all off but it takes too long and I've never managed to get them all. Any ideas?

Did you try blasting them off with the hose? That works for me with some of my aphid problems.

I use the hose too--sometimes you'll have to repeat every few days to keep the population from building back up again, but it only takes a minute.

Buddleja, I was reading the other day that if you plant lavender with your roses their buds are never bothered with aphids. I have no idea if this would work for honeysuckle. Spritzing your plant with diluted soapy water should work too. Hope you can rid yourself of them soon.

Thanks so much. I'll try the hose on them today - and tomorrow and the next day... Hopefully they haven't damaged the buds so much already that they won't flower this year. I really love the smell of honeysuckle and would be so disappointed if they didn't flower. I'll try the soapy water spritz too. And I'll let you know what happens.
