You just did it again!
Daily Musings - page 12
:)~
Thanks everyone.......yes Al....I cheated again!
pix, cheating is allowed...therefore it is not cheating! unravel the logic in that!!?? (you can choose either the question marks or exclamation points) the colors in your tulips are wonderful.
I can't decide if I want to try strawberries again. so I'm biding my time. I do love them.
Great tulips pix. No deer??
My husband is bow hunter......they don't come to close to the house.
But yes we have deer and I enjoy watching them, but they never touch my flower beds or veggie's, guess im just lucky!
An experiment......
Every year, the Peonies bloom then sag after even a moderate rain. So I'm trying this.
Pieces of old 2 X 4 wire fence cut to size to fit over the young shoots. This will hopefully hold them upright. I may have installed them too low, maybe.
The plants grow so darn fast it's hard to predict the best hight.
Time will tell.
Andy P
Pixie - are you suggesting if my DH takes up bow hunting, he can keep the squirrels away?
Andy - I think you invented a peony cage - unless it's been done already ;) I also have one on my aster and I am trying a peony ring on a heliopsis that flopsis.
I bought a couple of peony rings on sale a couple of years ago. now I have 2 peonies. pays to plan ahead LOL
Yea, I guess it's been done before. lol
Andy - homemade is always better!
Very nice Harper.
Hmmm... they're just not translating the way they look in real life. Maybe a new camera would help.
I'm going to bed. G'nite!
Harper
Yes - just ask him / her to move a bit to the side. Seriously, they are all nice. I like how one is highlighted in the foreground.
Thanks. You're sweet.
Harper, very pretty. I love that parrot tulip (I think) in the first picture.
Nice colorful pictures there Harper.
Hey Al! You're still awake too. Your "heliopsis that flopsis" reminded me of Dr. Seuss.
I'm not really a doctor. It wasn't sure if it wanted to squeeze through the holes, but I guess it did.
He wasn't a real Dr. either so it's perfect.
Hi everyone... you can all come.... I need a lot of help!!! my mom is arriving tomorrow.... so I have to get the garden in a decent shape!!!!!
I will post pictures later today... it's finally coming along... it looks nice with some few roses blooming... and the herbs are in.... totally worth getting plants from Green Mountain Transplants...
The first person answering my freecycle ad for dig yourself hostas came and complained about there being rocks in the hosta bed. Geez, this is New England. She was supposed to take all 20' - only took about 3'. I cut the lawn with my "new" vintage push-by-hand lawnmower. My special neighbor took my old gas mower for his yard as he had run out of bubble gum and duct tape to keep his old one running. I checked the Wespoint tulips in his yard and noticed that 1) he has more westpoints than I do even though I planted the same amount in each yard 2) his shade rockery is looking pretty good these days. I'm going to take a snap to post after I "prune" the maple seedlings growing where they shouldn't be. Life is Good!
Al, do you play one on TV?
Harper, your tulips & pics are wonderful! It's like opening a brand new 64 color box of Crayolas...a real treat.
Yank, so free isn't good enough? if you dug them for her and put them in her car, she'd probably want you to come plant them, too.
Kass, your mom isn't moving to America to see your garden...you've done an amazing job with it. lighten up. she'll love it. you'll have so much to talk about with her and your sister you'll probably be up all night.
No, but I think I'd like to play Dr. Strangelove - now that's a funny movie.
Agree Al - great movie. Incredible performances all around.
Kass, I agree with gram - stop worrying. She's your mom after all. I've been trying to disappoint my mom for years but just can't!
Happy Mothers Day to all!!!!!!!
Just saw Dr. Strangelove last week.
...we'll meet again someday... don't know when....
Thanks Gram!
On the one hand, I think that strangelove and tulips are sort of interesting. I've often wondered how the two combine. Sometimes, when I consider the phenotypic relationship between the two and then factor that by a variant of their intraspecific genetic raltions, I become apoplectic. It often takes me days for my muscles to unclench from the spasms.
On the other hand, often, when seeing two bald eagles in flight, I think of that time in the subway. She just unzipped right in front of me, it was as if she touched her belly button. Yet that belly button became a a zipper fob. And from there started the evisceration.
Surreality is especially important in viewing gardens and plants. The combination of the temporal with the overiding attempt o make things permanent is a fun thing to consider. It gives meaning to my vocation.

My sentements, exactly.
Couldn't have said it better myself.
(Actually, I had to read that very slowly, Watersedge.) LOL
What did you say is your vocation?????

Pro Gardener, Andy. I got on this thread beacuse it was recommended by another. They say you start good threads.
Used to live in Milton,MA; worked w/people from Brocton: nice crowd.
Peonies are hard get a handle on but it looks like yo're movng in the right direction. Once you get a good idea of how hight ot make your supports (take notes!), you'll be all set for next year.
Best wishes,
Karl
watersedge morphing to offthedeepend.
I like to say that I jumped once, though :)
I believe watersedge may have been troping on the orientation of Harper's gorgeous Mothers' Day bouquet.
Water, I live in Milton. Where did you live, or did we already play this once?
xxxx, Carrie
I think water tried the wrong mushrooms.
Just joking. I like Karl's perspective.
